Within its sharply sculpted body, the CLA blurs the line between sporty coupe and luxury sedan. Turbo power and an agile chassis underpin its spacious 5-passenger cabin. Each model offers a choice of suspension setups. Five driving modes adapt the car’s dynamics to your driving mood at the push of a button. Sport seats pair refinement with the racing inspiration of deep bolsters and integrated head restraints. Its advanced performance technologies convert the brainpower of their engineering into athletic reflexes on every drive. A CLA self-tunes its engine, shi!s its gears, and even responds to a slipping wheel with synapse-quick response. It’s near-impossible to track the man-hours that go into the engineering of a Mercedes-Benz. Considering that it all started back in 1886, when Karl Benz earned the patent for the first car, maybe it’s best measured in mancenturies — and woman-centuries, too. It was Karl’s wife Bertha, after all, who took the first road trip — a 60-mile round trip where she served as her own mechanic. No matter how you add it up, it only takes a few seconds in a 2017 CLA to appreciate it all. A 208-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine thrusts the CLA 250 from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds.3 The turbocharger spins up to full boost quickly, so you can enjoy all 258 lb -ft of torque without delay — from a stoplight, up an onramp, or when passing. The advanced high-pressure Direct Injection and rapidmultispark ignition operate with molecular precision and millisecond speed. They can both self-tune not just while you drive, but in the course of a single combustion cycle. With ultralow emissions and up to 36 highway mpg,4 it’s an appealing mix of responsiveness and responsibility. The 7G-DCT transmission earns its name from its seven speeds and its dual -clutch design. With two clutches — and no need for a clutch pedal — it can start engaging the next gear while it’s shifting out of the current one. It’s an automatic by default, a paddle-shifted manual on demand, and it can change gears faster than a human at any time. It transmits power either to the front wheels or, with 4MATIC® all -wheel drive, to the rear wheels too. Variable -torque 4MATIC responds instantly to the grip at each tire.5 New DYNAMIC SELECT offers multiple driving modes at a button’s touch, from ECO to Sport, plus an Individual mode you can configure for yourself. Each 17" or 18" wheel* (up to 19" on the AMG CLA 45) is independently suspended, with struts and wishbones up front, and a multilink design at the rear. Along with as many as seven different wheel styles, there are several chassis options, from an adjustable suspension to a full setup that’s performance-tuned by the masters at AMG. If you like to explore automotive history, you’ll find that Direct Injection, all-wheel drive, the 4 -wheel independent suspension, multilink suspension and 7-speed automatic transmission were pioneered by Mercedes-Benz. But if you’d rather create some history of your own, you can collect the modern versions of all these innovations far more quickly. They come neatly packaged in a new CLA. VISIBLY ENHANCED VISIONARY ASSISTS Light-sensing auto -on/off headlamps use a multi -element sensor for more accurate control. By looking ahead, not just up, it can switch on the headlamps the moment you enter a dark garage, without getting confused by every shade tree. New LED headlamps* create brighter, precisely shaped low and high beams that simulate natural daylight even more closely than xenon lamps. Their distinctive design includes arching white LED Daytime Running Lamps, and upgrades the taillamps to an LED “twin torch” style. LED turn signals are also integrated in each side mirror, where they’re more visible to drivers in the adjacent lane and to pedestrians. Using radar to help detect if you’re approaching slower traffic ahead too quickly, Active Brake Assist can alert you to brake, or even initiate braking itself.6 To help sense if you’re getting drowsy on a longer trip, ATTENTION ASSIST® monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior.7 A rearview camera8 is also standard. Blind Spot Assist*9 and Lane Keeping Assist*7 help to smooth your moves on multilane roads. Radar-based Distance Pilot DISTRONIC® cruise control* can adapt to the traffic flow, even stop -and -go.10 Parking Pilot* can help you size up parking spots and back you in hands -free. Serious wheel and tire damage may occur if the vehicle is operated on rough or damaged road surfaces or upon encountering road debris or obstacles. These tires are not designed for use on snow and ice. Winter tires mounted on appropriately sized and approved wheels are recommended for driving in those conditions. CLA models are not provided with a spare tire. Vehicles not equipped with Extended Mobility tires are provided with TIREFIT sealant and a portable air pump. Mercedes me and Mercedes-Benz mbrace® services operate only where cellular and GPS satellite signals are available, which are provided by third parties and not within the control of Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. Best performance in snow is obtained with winter tires. Active Brake Assist may not be sufficient to avoid an accident. It does not react to certain stationary objects, nor recognize or predict the curvature and/or lane layout of the road or every movement of vehicles ahead. It is the driver’s responsibility at all times to be attentive to traffic and road conditions, and to provide the steering, braking and other driving inputs necessary to retain control of the vehicle. Drivers are cautioned not to wait for the system’s alerts before braking, as that may not afford sufficient time and distance to brake safely. ATTENTION ASSIST® and/or Lane Keeping Assist may be insufficient to alert a fatigued or distracted driver of lane drift and cannot be relied on to avoid an accident or serious injury. Rearview camera does not audibly notify driver of nearby objects and is not a substitute for actively checking around the vehicle for any obstacles or people. Images displayed may be limited by camera field of view, weather, lighting conditions and the presence of dirt, ice or snow on the cameras. Blind Spot Assist may not be sufficient to avoid all accidents involving vehicles in your blind spot and does not estimate the speed of approaching vehicles. It must not be used as a sole substitute for driver awareness and checking of surrounding traffic conditions.
