Installation instruction for Carplay Android Auto interface Maserati Ghibli / Quattroporte 2014-2017 The interface is connected via two connection plugs on the radio. It is estimated that it takes about 45-60 minutes of work to connect the interface. No programming is necessary. Step 1 Disconnect the battery To be on the safe side, disconnect the battery first. In that case, make sure that the locks no longer work! Motrade December 2022 © Step 2. Unplug part of the bezel Ghibli Snap off the bezel using a pry tool. Start at the bottom of the bezel and work your way up to the upper left and upper right corner. The top of the bezel is very hard to unclip. You better keep it fastened. Just be sure that there is enough space to unscrew the four screws next to the screen. Those screws hold the air vents. Unlock the connectors of the buttons of the bezel. Quattroporte Snap off both covers with the buttons. Step 3. Remove the air vents. Unscrew the four screws (crosshead) that hold the air vents. Unlock the connectors of the vents. Remove the vents using the pry tools. Take care, parts may come loose, but can easily be reconnected. Motrade December 2022 © Connector of the air vent Step 4. Remove the gear stick Flip the cover of the gear stick open. Unscrew the 3 mm hex bolt. It can be very thightened. Do not damage the bolt. Pull of the gear stick. Step 5. Remove the radio Pull off the plastic covers at both sides. Unscrew the radio at both sides and at the front (crosshead). In total 4 screws. Place a blanket on the middle console to avoid scratches. Pull the radio towards you. Step 6. Prepare the cables Lead the main cable and video cable from the right compartment (at the left of the passengers feet) to the backside of the radio. Disconnect the big white connector and the video cable with the white connector from the radio. Reconnect the main cable and the video cable to the radio. Plug the disconnected connectors to the contraconnectors. The connectors with the lables are on the side of the interface (pink on brown, grey on blue). Motrade December 2022 © Step 7. Connect the aux cable Pull off the middle console and drill a hole of 10 mm in the little compartment with the aux-connector. Push the aux connector through the hole and connect it to AUX. Push back the middle console. Be sure that the AUX-cable does not block anything. Step 8. Reinstall the radio Close the panels under the radio. They may flip open and block the radio. Push back the radio and fasten the 4 screws. Motrade December 2022 © Step 9. Test the system Connect the interface and all parts/cables. Be sure that the AUX-cable is connected to AUDIO-OUT. Choose AUX as a source for sound in the OEM-system. Switch to the interface with the steering wheel button (hold 1-2 seconds). Remove the existing bluetooth connection with the car. Connect the phone to the bluetooth signal of the interface and put WIFI on. The bluetooth connection will create a WIFI-network and disconnect itself after that. Test the system with regard to graphics, sound, switching between radio and interface and reverse switching. The dip switches are standard at 00000001 (0 = OFF, 1 is ON). The image is a bit stretched. There is no way to avoid this because the screen is almost rectangular. It does not affect the functionalities. Step 10. Install the interface and close the system again (clicks, screws) The best place to install the interface is here (see picture). Push all cables away in empty spots. The microphone is only for speech control. You can place it under the radio, out of sight. Motrade December 2022 © Step 11. Enjoy!
