Steps needed: • Download "All Software" (see 1.3.5) • Prepare the SD card (see 2.5) • Download map data* files as needed (1.3.1 - 1.3.4) • Continue with 2.11 * Gen 1.x map data is included in “All Software” file 1. Click on the navigation platform you want to download. You are guided to the next page. 1.3.1 Gen 1.x Platform Kia Gen 1.x 2018 is the latest System Software and Map update. In most cases, you only need to download this package. The file name is Kia_Gen1x_2018.zip Kia Gen 1.x 5.1.3 is only needed, if the system software is pre 5.1.3. In this case, you need to download and install both packages. The file name is Kia_Gen1x_5_1_3.zip. To request the personal download link check the “Export and Control Terms” box and click “Download”. By clicking “Save File” the selected file will be downloaded to your computer. 1.3.2 Gen 2.0 Platform Kia Gen 2.0 Map 2018 is the latest Map update. The file name is Kia_Gen2_Map_2018.zip Kia Gen 2.0 Software is the latest System Software update. By clicking “Save File” the selected file will be downloaded to your computer. 1.3.5 Downloading Software for All Platforms “Kia Gen X All Software 2018”includes Gen 1.x 2018*, Gen 2.0 2018, Gen 4.x 2018 and iAVN 2018 system software. The total file size is approx 16 GB. To request the personal download link check the “Export and Control Terms” box and click “Download”. Preparing the Service Tool Kit (STK) 2018 system software and map updates have been made available as download to you. As highlighted in the Download Manual, each platform is split into Software and Map data. The software needs to be copied to a media (SD Card or USB stick) one time only. After copying the software to the media, you may delete the files from your computer. 2018 Map data files need to stay on your computer and copied to vehicle´s SD card for every update. The process is universal for all navigation platforms. 1. Download the files 2. Extract the files to your hard drive 3. Copy the files to SD card or USB stick 2.1 Media carriers We suggest to create 3 different media carriers: • One SD card containing o Gen 2.0 2018 System Software o Gen 4.x 2018 System Software o iAVN 2018 System Software • One USB stick containing Kia Gen 1.x 2018 • One USB stick containing Kia Gen 1.x Version 5.1.3 2.2 Required Media Platform Media Size Comment Kia Gen 1.x 2018 USB Stick 8 GB If you need to purchase a new USB stick, a common consumer grade version, e.g. Intenso 8 GB USB-Stick, is sufficient. Kia Gen 1.x Version 5.1.3 USB Stick 8 GB If you need to purchase a new USB stick, a common consumer grade version, e.g. Intenso 8 GB USB-Stick, is sufficient. In case you would like to create one SD card per navigation platform or need to purchase more SD cards, please purchase a common consumer grade SD card, e.g. SanDisk Ultra SDHC 32GB UHS-I Class 10. Kia Gen 2.0 2018 Update Kia Gen 4.x 2018 Update Kia iAVN 2018 Update SD Card 32 GB This manual will explain how to create one SD card containing 2018 software versions of Gen 2.0. Gen 4.x and iAVN platforms. If your PC does not have a SD card slot, you can use a USB to SD card adapter, and in case you need to purchase an adapter, please purchase TRANSCEND RDF5 Card Reader or similar. 2.3 Preparing USB and SD cards Step 1: Insert SD card or USB stick in PC Step 2: Right click SD card or USB drive and select “Format” Step 3: Format the SD card or USB drive to FAT32. 2.4 Locating the 2018 Map Update files After downloading the files, please open the folder containing the downloads The file names are: Platform Component File Name Kia Gen 1.x 5.1.3 Map Data and Software Kia_Gen1x_5_1_3.zip Kia Gen 1.x 2018 Update Map Data and Software Kia_Gen1x_2018.zip Map Data Kia_Gen2_Map_2018.zip System Software Kia_Gen2_Software_2018.zip Map Data Kia_Gen4_Map_2018.zip System Software Kia_Gen4_Software_2018.zip Map Data Kia_iAVN_Map_2018.zip System Software Kia_iAVN_Software_2018.zip Kia Gen 2.0 2018 Update Kia Gen 4.x 2018 Update Kia iAVN 2018 Update 2.5 Kia GenX All Software 2018 2.5.1 Preparing 2018 STK with Kia_Genx_all_Software_2018 These steps need to be performed ONE TIME only to create the STK. As soon as the STK is ready, you may delete the files from your PC. Step 1: Please open the folder with the downloaded ZIP files and locate the Kia_Genx_all_Software_2018.zip Step 2: Right click on the file and select “WinZip” Step 3: Select “Extract to folder”. WinZip will now extract the files to a new folder named like the navigation platform. C:\2018Update\ Kia_Genx_all_Software_2018 2.5.1 Preparing 2018 STK with Kia_Genx_all_Software_2018 These steps need to be performed ONE TIME only to create the STK. As soon as the STK is ready, you may delete the files from your PC. Step 4: WinZip is now extracting the files. Step 5: The new folder is visible now. Step 6: Double Click the folder to open it until you see the files. 2.5.2 Preparing the 2018 STK with Kia_Genx_all_Software_2018 Step 7: Select the files in the folder. Right click on the marked files and select “Copy” Step 8: Please right click on the SD card folder and paste the data on the SD card. Step 9: Now you created a SD card to update Gen 1.x, Gen 2.0, Gen 4.0 and iAVN system software to 2018 version. 2.6 Kia Gen 1.x 5.1.3 2.6.1 Kia Gen 1.x 5.1.3 Gen 1.x version 5.1.3 is only needed for vehicles, that do not have a 5.1.3 or higher installed. In case a vehicle has 5.1.2 or lower, you need to install 5.1.3 first and 2018 update afterwards. You need to prepare a separate USB stick for this version. Step 1: Please open the folder with the downloaded ZIP files and locate the Step 2: Right click on the file and select “WinZip” Step 3: Select “Extract to folder”. WinZip will now extract the files to a new folder named like the navigation platform. Step 5: The new folder is visible now. Step 6: Double Click the folder to open it until you see the files. Kia_Gen1.x_5.1.3.zip Step 4: WinZip is now extracting the files. 2.6.2 Kia Gen 1.x 5.1.3 Step 7: Select the files in the folder. Right click on the marked files and select “Copy” Step 8: Please right click and paste the data on the USB stick Step 9: The USB stick will contain 3.15 GB. 2.7 Kia Gen 1.x 2018 Update 2.7.1 Kia Gen 1.x 2018 Update These steps need to be performed ONE TIME only to create the STK. As soon as the STK is ready, you may delete the files from your PC. Step 1: Please open the folder with the downloaded ZIP files and locate the Kia_Gen1x_2018.zip Step 2: Right click on the file and select “WinZip” Step 3: Select “Extract to folder”. WinZip will now extract the files to a new folder named like the navigation platform. Step 4: WinZip is now extracting the files. Step 5: The new folder is visible now. Step 6: Double Click the folder to open it until you see the files. 2.6.2 Kia Gen 1.x 2018 Update Step 7: Select the files in the folder. Right click on the marked files and select “Copy” Step 8: Please right click and paste the data on the USB stick Step 9: The USB stick will contain a file size of 5.08 GB. 2.8 Kia Gen 2.0 2018 Update 2.8.1 Kia Gen 2.0 2018 Update These steps need to be performed ONE TIME only to create the STK. As soon as the STK is ready, you may delete the files from your PC. Step 1: Please open the folder with the downloaded ZIP files and locate the Step 2: Right click on the file and select “WinZip” Step 3: Select “Extract to folder”. WinZip will now extract the files to a new folder named like the navigation platform. Step 5: The new folder is visible now. Step 6: Double Click the folder to open it until you see the files. Step 9: Now you created a SD card to update Gen 2.0 system software to 2018 version. 2.9. Kia Gen 4.x 2018 Update 2.9.1 Kia Gen 4.x 2018 Update These steps need to be performed ONE TIME only to create the STK. As soon as the STK is ready, you may delete the files from your PC. Step 1: Please open the folder with the downloaded ZIP files and locate the Step 2: Right click on the file and select “WinZip” Step 3: Select “Extract to folder”. WinZip will now extract the files to a new folder named like the navigation platform. Step 5: The new folder is visible now. Step 6: Double Click the folder to open it until you see the files. Kia_Gen4.x_Software_2018.zip Step 4: WinZip is now extracting the files. 2.9.2 Kia Gen 4.x 2018 Update Step 7: Select the files in the folder. Right click on the marked files and select “Copy” Step 8: Please right click on the SD card folder and paste the data on the SD card. Step 9: Now you created a SD card to update Gen 4.0 system software to 2018 version. 2.10 Kia iAVN 2018 Update 2.10.1 Kia iAVN 2018 Update These steps need to be performed ONE TIME only to create the STK. As soon as the STK is ready, you may delete the files from your PC. Step 1: Please open the folder with the downloaded ZIP files and locate the Step 2: Right click on the file and select “WinZip” Step 3: Select “Extract to folder”. Kia_ iAVN_Software_2018.zip Step 4: WinZip is now extracting the files. 2.10.2 Kia iAVN 2018 Update Step 7: Select the files in the folder. Right click on the marked files and select “Copy” Step 8: Please right click on the SD card folder and paste the data on the SD card. Step 9: Now you created a SD card to iAVN system software to 2018 version. 2.11 Creating the Map Data folder 2.11 Creating the Map Data folder Step 1: Please create a new folder on your computer and name it “Map Update 2018” Step 2: This folder will serve as your central storage of the Map Data for - Gen 2.0 - Gen 4.x - iAVN Step 3: Copy the downloaded and extracted Map Data files into this folder. You will need approx. 41 GB of hard disk space. 2.12 Verifying Map Data files 2.12 Verifying Map Data files Please right click on the individual map data folder and select “Properties”. The file properties must match the below information. If the current version is lower than 5.1.3, the pop-up screen is displayed as shown below. Upgrade the software to 5.1.3 version according to the previous TSB. In case of above screen message, please refer to TSB KGE12-92-P140-YNEDSLXMTFUBQB AVN 1.x - Step 1 - in Vehicle System Software and Map Upgrade (Duration <90 min) Insert the USB with the upgrade files into the car’s USB port The system will automatically recognize the new system and map software and displays current and new software and map information Press [OK] then [Agree] to proceed The system will start performing the upgrade for both the system and the map AVN 1.x - Step 2 - in Vehicle Check Map and Software Version (Duration <1 min) After the update has finished, long press on the [SETTINGS] button. Check the software and map versions System version Gen1.x Navigation version Map database version 7.8.3 EU.10.49.41 117E7AC AVN 2.0 AVN Platform Vehicle Name AVN GEN 2.0 Picanto (TA) Rio (UB) Venga (YN) Optima (JF) New Sportage (QL) New Sorento (UM) AVN 2.0 - Step 1 - in Vehicle System Software Upgrade (Duration <12 min) Remove the map SD-Card from the SD-Card slot Insert the SD card with the upgrade files into the the SD-Card slot System automatically detects an upgrade file on the SD-Card and displays a window with old and new software information Click on the [Upgrade] then [Agree] buttons If the screen remains black, make sure to click the “On” Button once System starts the upgrade process Once the update is completed, the system automatically reboots Long press on the [SETTINGS] button. Check that the new S/W version is displayed Remove SD Card. In some cases „Invalid MapVersion“ appears. This is caused by the removal of Map SD Card and has no impact on the software update. AVN 2.0 - Step 2 - on PC Format “Customer’s SD Card” (Duration <5 sec) • Check that the Map SD is unlocked • Insert the card in the SD slot of your computer Unlock • Select SD card drive and click the right mouse button and click [Format] NOT FORMATTING THE SD CARD WILL LEAD TO UPDATE ISSUES! • • Use the following settings: Files System: FAT32 (Default) Allocation unit size: 32KB Click [Start] button • • • Start format by clicking [OK] When format is done click [OK] Duration: < 5 sec AVN 2.0 - Step 3 - on PC Copy Map Data to Customer’s SD Card (Duration <20 min) • Open the AVN2.0 map folder on your PC • Select [LGENavi] • • • Right click on the SD card drive and click on “PASTE” to copy the map on the SD Card. Copying the map will start Duration: < 20 min DO NOT COPY OTHER FILES ON THE SD CARD • Click right mouse button and left click on “COPY”. • • • • Check copy completion Select ALL files Click right mouse button and click [Properties] Check number of data/folder and size. AVN 2.0 - Step 4 - in Vehicle Check Map and Software in the System (Duration <2 min) • Put the update Map SD Card back in the SD slot • System will reboot • Long press on the [SETTINGS] button. • Check the Navi app and Map versions System ver. XX.EU.SOP.XX.178 XX.EU.SOP.10.49.55 EUR.10.48.54.001.001(D.D2) AVN 4.0 AVN Platform Vehicle Name AVN GEN 4.0 Soul (PS, PSEV) Sorento (UM) Optima (TF, TF HEV) Gen 4.0 - Step 1 - in Vehicle System Software Upgrade (Duration <20 Min) • Press [SETTINGS] button once-> • Scroll down to [SYSTEM INFO] and press the icon • • System will reboot once the update is complete (< 20 min) Go back to [SYSTEM INFO] to check if the new S/W version is displayed Remove Map SD card from the slot Unlock and insert unlocked SD Card into SD Card slot Gen 4.0 - Step 2 - on PC Format “Customer’s SD Card” (Duration <5 Secs) • Check that the Map SD is unlocked • Insert the card in the SD slot of your computer Unlock • Select SD card drive and click the right mouse button and click [Format…] NOT FORMATTING THE SD CARD WILL LEAD TO UPDATE ISSUES! • • Use the following settings: Files System: FAT32 (Default) Allocation unit size: 32KB Click [Start] button • • • Start format by clicking [OK] When format is done click [OK] Duration: < 5 sec Gen 4.0 - Step 3 - on PC Copy Map Data to Customer’s SD Card (Duration <20 min) • • Open [MAP Update 2018] folder on your PC Open [Kia_Gen4x_Map_2018] • • Select ALL files Click right mouse button and click [COPY] • • • Select SD Card drive Click the right mouse button and click [PASTE] Duration: < 20 min • • • • DO NOT COPY OTHER FILES ON THE SD CARD Check copy completion Select ALL files Click right mouse button and click [PROPERTIES] Check number of data/folder and size. Gen 4.0 - Step 4 - in Vehicle Check Map in the System (Duration <2 min) Insert the updated Map SD card back into the SD Card slot • Press [SETTINGS] button -> • Scroll down to [SYSTEM INFO] and press the icon • Check that the new version is displayed If the system was ON it will reboot The map should be displayed on the [HOME] screen System ver. Scroll the screen to the next page. Click on the [SYSTEM INFO] icon. • • Check that the new S/W version is displayed Remove SD-Card. System automatically detects an upgrade file on the SD-Card and displays a pop-up showing the new software information Click on [OK] In some cases „Invalid MapVersion“ appears. If the system is ON, it will reboot • • • Click on the [SETTINGS]/[SETUP] button. Scroll the screen to the next page. Click on the [SYSTEM INFO] icon. • • Check that the new software, Navi app version and Map version are displayed System ver.
