Design
The GT86 brings the classic sports car experience
to a new generation. The principles are simple.
Lightweight body. Front-mounted engine.
Rear-wheel drive. Great balance and handling.
This philosophy was behind influential driverfocused Toyota models such as the 2000GT and
AE86. These automotive icons fed the
imagination of Toyota’s engineers, and ensured
that the GT86 has the perfect blend of pedigree
and performance.
“Toyota’s new sports car appeals to
your head as well as your heart.”

Drive
With the low centre of gravity, the driver
is now in touch with the road again.
Technology is brilliant – the solution to many
challenges. But high-tech driver aids can
disconnect us from the skill and emotion of
driving. With its front-mounted, free-revving
petrol engine driving the rear wheels, the
GT86 gives control back to the driver. The
result? A car that’s responsive, nimble and
beautifully balanced. You’re back in the
driving seat.
“When you have rear drive,
you have balance. You have
a division of labour. The
front wheels do the steering.
The ones at the back do
the propulsion.”

Re-ignite your passion for driving.
Performance
Engine
2.0
200
Every engineer and designer behind the
GT86 is passionate about driving and knows
that performance is not just about power
and top speed. They set the powertrain
and driving position as low and as far
back as possible, for near-perfect weight
distribution. The GT86’s core ingredients
of light weight, low centre of gravity and
a precise power-to-weight ratio connects
the driver to the road in a way that brute
power simply doesn’t understand.
Torque
A torque-sensing limited-slip differential
is fitted as standard – true to the GT86’s
character as a real driver’s car.

Interior
Elegant, focused and driver-oriented. It’s what
a racing driver expects from a car’s interior,
and it’s a lesson applied to the GT86. You sit
low, gripped by sculpted sports seats. The
dominant dial is the rev counter. Gear shift,
switches and controls are intuitively
positioned. Understated yet classic.
“It is a car that makes
the driver feel like a hero.”

A design that expresses both
playfulness and attention to detail.

Control
1.
From the beginning, the concept
was to put the driver back at the heart
of the sports car.
The essence of a sports car is driver control. The GT86 has been
engineered for that purpose – not through horsepower and computer
technology but by classic driving dynamics and design. It’s not just on the
road where the GT86 shows impressive control, but also at the driver’s
fingertips with the Toyota Touch™ multimedia system. The touch screen
controls the six-speaker audio system, and enables Bluetooth® connectivity
for phone connection and music streaming, plus aux-in and USB port.
The Red Interior pack, inset, includes red steering wheel inserts, gear shift,
handbrake and door handle inserts. This pack comes as standard if you
choose the optional black leather/red Alcantara® or cloth trims.
2.
1. Toyota Touch™ is a 6.1" colour touch screen with multimedia capabilities
that displays vehicle information and has the following features:
— DAB ready
— USB and aux-in for WMA and MP3 music playing
3.
— Bluetooth® pairing
— Bluetooth® music streaming
— Auto phone contact download
2. Dual-zone automatic air conditioning – GT86 is equipped with a dual-zone
automatic air conditioning system to maintain a comfortable cabin temperature.
3. 6-speed manual transmission – The newly developed short shift stroke delivers
responsive and smooth gear changes. The gear ratio has also been optimised to
combine driving and environmental performance. Alternatively, there is 6-speed
automatic transmission with paddle shift (shown).

Toyota Racing Development…
…born to race.
TRD’s roots go way back to the 1950s when a team of specialist technicians began
customising Toyota production cars for motor sports events. More than 60 years of
continuous innovation later, you’ll find both road and race Toyotas fitted with TRD
components, with many of the race cars competing at the front of the grid.
Reflecting that never-ending passion for high performance, all the knowledge and
skills of preparing Toyota cars for the circuits is encapsulated in today’s GT86 TRD.
Each meticulously designed part draws on proven racing expertise to enhance the
GT86 experience and add to the sensation of pure driving pleasure.
TRD first entered international motor sports with an individually
prepared Toyota Crown RS for the Around Australia Trial rally in
1957. Subsequent developments with Coronas, Publicas and the
2000GT in the 1960s secured the reputation for racing expertise.
In 1970, TRD fitted a 3-litre V8 from a Toyota Century into the
much smaller Toyota Crown Hardtop and began an association
with stock car racing that continues today with Toyota Camrys
regularly competing in the American NASCAR series.
The 1980s also saw the launch of the now legendary TRDprepared Corolla AE86 in Japan. And in the UK the AE86 won
back-to-back BTCC titles at the hands of Chris Hodgetts.

The reputation of TRD in Group C racing made it a highly desirable
partner for teams in both Japanese GT300 and GT500
competitions. In addition to the Supra, TRD-prepared MR2s,
MR-Ss, Truenos and Celicas regularly picked up the laurels.
The GT86 GRMN 86 is one of two GT86 racing cars which took
part in the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race in Germany in
May 2012 where it won the SP3 production car category. It is
fitted with the same TRD front spoiler and side skirts as the

Discover more about GT86 technology.

2.0 l D-4S boxer
The lightweight, front-mounted 2.0 litre boxer engine
uses Toyota D-4S technology, combining direct and
port injection to deliver more power, torque and fuel
efficiency while lowering CO2 emissions.
High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights
HID headlights use less energy and are more than twice
as bright as conventional halogen bulbs. This provides a
safer night-time drive, especially in poor weather. These
distinctive headlights are equipped with an automatic
beam-levelling control to reduce glare.
Traction Control (TRC)
If you accelerate too hard and cause the drive wheels
to lose grip and begin spinning, TRC will automatically
reduce engine power and control brake force to help
restore traction.
Whiplash Injury Lessening (WIL) seats
During an impact at lower speeds and particularly from
the rear, WIL seats and headrests cushion the head and
back. This reduces the risk of whiplash injuries.
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic
Brake force Distribution (EBD)
ABS prevents the wheels from locking while braking.
EBD complements this by optimising brake force
distribution between each wheel to compensate for
different loads. Together the two systems help you to
maintain steering control when braking heavily.
Pre-tensioners and force-limiters
Integral to the front 3-point ELR seat belts, pretensioners and force-limiters are designed to help
avoid injuries to the chest area.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
VSC automatically activates each individual brake as
needed and controls engine output to help maintain
stability and prevent skidding when turning sharply
or cornering on slippery road surfaces.
Connected Services
Toyota Touch & Go™ allows access to a selection of on-board
internet-based services, harnessing the power of your mobile
phone. Search for a restaurant, check local fuel prices, weather
info, or that elusive parking space – all from your car. To take
advantage of these features your mobile phone will need to
be compatible with Toyota Touch & Go™, have a suitable data
plan, and tethering-enabled. Contact your phone provider
for more details. Further applications are coming soon,
downloadable from toyota.co.uk and may incur an extra cost.
Brake Assist (BA)
If you attempt an emergency stop, BA will detect this
and apply additional brake pressure. This enables ABS
to work to its maximum potential.
Smart Entry & Start System
(Driver, passenger and boot)
Instead of a conventional key, the Smart Entry & Start
System features a transmitter that allows you to unlock
the doors by pulling the handle and lock them again by
pressing a button. To start or stop the engine, simply
press the Start/Stop button. All you need to do is carry
the Smart Entry key in your pocket or handbag.

mechanical fault. For full details, please ask your official

Added security
The GT86 security system withstands the insurance
industry’s rigorous 5-minute attack test and provides
excellent protection. Both the alarm system and
engine immobiliser are approved by Europe’s major
insurance companies.
Toyota Approved Used Car Scheme
All Toyota Approved Used vehicles come complete
with a pre-delivery inspection, a mileage check,
12 months’ warranty, breakdown cover, 12 months’
AA Roadside Assistance** and a 30-day vehicle
exchange plan.
Intelligent design
The GT86 is designed and engineered to minimise your
maintenance costs. There are fewer parts that require
servicing and those that do are inherently durable to
extend service intervals. Equally important is that GT86
technology is made easily accessible so that maintenance
labour time can be minimised. These features combine
with the highly competitive pricing of Toyota parts to
ensure the lowest cost of maintaining your GT86 in an
ideal working condition.
Rust and paint defects The warranty also covers surface
rust and paint defects appearing on any of the painted
body panels as a result of a fault in materials for a period
of three years, regardless of mileage.
Toyota accessories
Toyota accessories are designed and manufactured with
the same care, quality and attention to detail as Toyota
vehicles. Tailor-made for your Toyota, they fit perfectly
and add a personal touch of style, comfort or practicality.
And because they’ve been tested under the most severe
conditions, you can have complete confidence in their
reliability and durability. To add to the reassurance, every
genuine Toyota accessory has a 5-year warranty when
purchased together with the vehicle◊.
Recycling Toyota End-Of-Life Vehicles
We offer a free vehicle take-back scheme through our
appointed service provider, Autogreen. This is a new and
innovative way for Toyota drivers to return their vehicle
at the end of its life for dismantling and recycling. For
more information about End-Of-Life Vehicles please
refer to www.toyota.co.uk/environment
Toyota quality service
Your Toyota Centre will talk you through the GT86
‘Health and Safety’ maintenance programme. The
programme is very straightforward and designed for
your convenience. In effect, your GT86 needs a full
Health and Safety check, dependent on driving style
and conditions, up to once every two years or 20,000
miles (whichever comes first). An intermediate Health
and Safety check is necessary every year or 10,000 miles
(whichever comes sooner).

Corrosion cover The warranty offers 12 years’ coverage,
regardless of mileage, against perforation of the
bodywork (from inside to outside) that develops due to
corrosion caused by faults in materials or workmanship.
Extended Warranty
After the initial warranty period has ended, you can
extend your warranty until the vehicle is 7 years old –
choosing from a range of packages to suit your vehicle
and your needs. Our Extended Warranty covers the
main component parts of the vehicle§, meaning that
you pay for nothing beyond routine servicing and
maintenance, so there are no unexpected bills to pay.
Toyota genuine parts
The GT86 is designed to minimise the cost of accident
repair. Energy-absorbing elements are built into the
bumpers, expensive-to-replace parts are located away
from damage zones, and commonly damaged body parts
are bolted rather than welded. As a result, the extent of
damage is limited and damaged parts are easy to remove,
replace or repair. Ultimately, this means very low parts
and labour charges.

All our plans offer easy budgeting and peace of mind and
AccessToyota brings these and other benefits together
in one flexible package. AccessToyota is a finance plan
that puts you in control. You don’t have to worry about
finding a large deposit as you agree the amount of
deposit that you want to pay and choose your repayment
term from 2 to 3 years. What makes AccessToyota
different is that Toyota Financial Services (TFS) give
your vehicle the security of a guaranteed future value
(GFV) which is your optional final payment, deferred to
the end of the agreement. Affordable monthly payments
are yours to enjoy as your repayments are based on
the vehicle selling price less your deposit and the GFV/
optional final payment, plus the cost of borrowing. In
addition, you can have reassurance against the risk of
a fall in used car prices, knowing the minimum amount
your Toyota will be worth at the end of your agreement is
guaranteed at TFS. Then when your agreement comes to
an end you have three flexible choices:
— Part exchange your vehicle for a brand new Toyota
— Pay your final payment (the GFV) and take full
ownership of the car §§
— Hand your vehicle back to us subject to fair wear and
tear conditions being met, and any applicable fees
being paid◊◊
