Programa is not responsible for any damage to the module or related devices due to improper installation. Ride Height: To retain proper ride comfort and to avoid damage to suspension components please follow these minimum recommended height adjustments: All non-AMG Mercedes models should use a setting of 3 or higher. AMG cars are lower than their Mercedes counterparts. With this in mind it is recommended that AMG cars use a ride height setting of 5 or higher. Lower settings can be used for show purposes but are not recommended for everyday driving. In some models the door must be closed in order for the Airmatic or ABC system to operate. This is a safety function and is normal on those vehicles. Servicing your Mercedes: When having the vehicle serviced, always disable the Suspension Control Module by setting the height to factory level. This will prevent the possible missdiagnosing of the vehicle electronic system by the technician. Technical Support: For further information, please contact the manufacturer: ProgRama Inc. (toll free in USA): +1-866-961-7362. 4 5 6 Airmatic or ABC suspension? 216 chassis CL 2007 - 2013 220 chassis S 2000 - 2006 221 chassis S 2007 - 2013 Both CL-class and S-class vehicles were manufactured with two kinds of suspensions: - an air suspension (Airmatic), or - the higher quality hydraulic suspension (ABC = Active Body Control). You must know which type of suspension is in the vehicle before you can install the ProgRama Suspension Lowering Control Module. One obvious difference between the two suspensions is the speed of changing the vehicle height. In general, if you have the more expemsive ABC suspension and you change the vehicle height with the Mercedes control button in the cabin, the change will be instantenous. On other hand, the same with the Airmatic air suspension takes many seconds. If the vehicle is all-wheel drive, it will have the Airmatic suspension, as the ABC is available only on rear-wheel drive models. Each vehicle equipped with ABC has an “ABC Sport” button that allows the driver to adjust the suspension range for different driving style preferences. If you have this button in the cabin, continue with ABC section on page 34. If still in doubts, contact any Mercedes dealer with your VIN number and they can tell you which suspension you have. Next, continue with the installation from the appropriate page: Airmatic ABC S-class (W220) page 22 S-class (W221) page 26 CL-class (W216) page 26 CL- or S-class page 34 7 8 Which Airmatic sensors? 219 chassis 211 chassis CLS 2004 - 2011 E 2004 - 2009 Both CLS-class and E-class vehicles were assembled with one of two kinds of height sensors, either: - height sensor with 4-wires, or - height sensor with 3-wires. You must know which type of sensor is in the vehicle before you can install the ProgRama Suspension Lowering Control Module. In general, all AMG models wre manufactured using 4-wire sensors. For AMG vehicles, continue with page 22. All non-AMG vehicles manufactured before 05/2005 were assembled using 4-wire height sensors, continue with page 22. Newer vehicles were assembled using 3-wire sensors, continue with page 26. One can also locate one of the three height sensors, disconnect its connector and see how many pins are in the connector, three or four. This is more noticeable when the vehicle is lowered. Small differences can be manually adjusted by rotating the individual Wheel Switches. Larger differences should be corrected at the dealer using proper equipment and procedure. Before going to the dealer, remember to turn off the RennTech Suspension Module by rotating the Function Switch (black button) to position 0. Once back from the dealer, rotate the Function Switch back to original position 1 or 2, as described in the Step-by-Step Installation. - The proceeding lowering values are an approximation and will vary from wheel to wheel and vehicle to vehicle: Wheel Height Adjustment Switch positions 7: lower by 3/8“ [10 mm] 6: lower by 3/4“ [20 mm] 5: lower by 1“ [25 mm] 4: lower by 1 1/8“ [30 mm] 3: lower by 1 3/8“ [35 mm] 2: lower by 1 1/2“ [40 mm] 1: lower by 1 3/4“ [45 mm] 0: lower by 2“ [50 mm] 43 Vehicle Connector Preparation DISCONNECTING the 26 pin connector from the lowering module CONNECTING the 26 pin connector to the lowering module 30 pin and 48 pin Connector Dissasembly Remove cap by pushing and removing housing from plug by unlocking the two latches on the sides of the housing.
