Whether you have been inspired to create a unique tailor-made interior colour scheme combined with a bespoke exterior paint treatment, or perhaps a one-off wheel finish, our mission is to transform what is already special into something truly unique. MSO was created in 2011, but its origins can be traced to before the foundation of McLaren Automotive and back to the launch of the McLaren F1 in 1992. We were determined to offer the owners of the world’s most special car a customer care programme as unique as the McLaren F1 itself. That meant a personalisation service for customers to tailor the car to their exact requirements, and technicians who would literally travel around the world to provide service and maintenance. McLaren Heritage has since grown into a dedicated team which is an integral part of MSO. 06 07 McLaren Special Operations One Of A Kind Where We Began McLaren Special Operations (MSO) offers the ultimate ability to build one-of-a-kind vehicles to match our clients’ exacting requirements. They’ve produced more than 200 special colour variations in the last two years, and the team is developing new finishes, most recently a paint containing real diamonds for a sparkling effect. Some new colours begin as unusual requests – on one occasion an art collector in New York wanted to duplicate a particular colour in a famous painting. That customer now has several McLarens, all finished in the same MSO Bespoke shade.
