AMENITIES PERFORMANCE SAFETY CAPABLE GX. THE MOST WE SET OUT TO CREATE THE MOST Optional equipment shown. SPECS CAPABLE DRIVER. INNOVATION WE DIDN’T ONLY SET OUT TO CREATE AMENITIES THE 2012 GX PERFORMANCE SAFETY INNOVATION IT’S MORE THAN A VEHICLE. Among seven-passenger utility vehicles, there are those designed primarily for on-road and those for off-road. Seldom is there one engineered specifically to excel on both—until now. The current-generation GX is more powerful, versatile and capable than ever before. Consider the paradox solved. Optional equipment shown. SPECS IT’S A SOLUTION. VERSATILITY COMFORT ENTERTAINMENT AMENITIES AMENITIES PERFORMANCE SAFETY INNOVATION Optional equipment shown. See disclaimers on page 61. THING REMOTELY SEMI ABOUT IT. SPECS SEMI-ANILINE LEATHER IS THE ONLY ITS AVAILABLE AMENITIES IMAGINE, A UTILITY VEHICLE THAT’S DESIGNED TO BE INNOVATION SELECT YOUR WEEKEND ADVENTURE >> SPECS Optional equipment shown. See disclaimers on page 61. SAFETY A utility vehicle shouldn’t solely be measured by how much it can carry, but rather how easy it is to use. For instance, the GX features a rear window that flips open for convenient loading of smaller items. As well as third-row seats that can easily fold flat by pressing a button located in the cargo area or adjacent to the secondrow seat. And, with a passenger-side second-row seat that tilts and slides forward, accessing the third row and accommodating cargo4 of all shapes and sizes is every bit as effortless as it should be. PERFORMANCE UTILIZED. AMENITIES PERFORMANCE SAFETY INNOVATION Optional equipment shown. WITH YOU. Remarkably spacious, with a host of accommodations, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a finer home away from home. Among its comforts: exquisite auburn bubinga wood accents, ergonomic seating trimmed in premium double-stitched leather and available heated second-row outboard seating. SPECS TAKE YOUR GREAT ROOM AMENITIES A FRESH TAKE ON SAFETY INNOVATION One dual-zone climate-control system in the front and another available climate-control system in the rear. To most automobile manufacturers, these systems would be more than enough. But in here, they’re just the beginning. The GX is the first V8 in its class to come standard with heated and ventilated front seats. And, because not all air is good air, the GX also offers an available system that can help detect smog and certain pollutants outside of the vehicle. If it determines the outside air to be contaminated, the system automatically recirculates the cleaner air inside the cabin. PERFORMANCE FRESH AIR. SPECS Optional equipment shown. OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PERFORMANCE “PEACE” AND “QUIET.” AMENITIES TWO SCREENS. SAFETY SPECS Optional equipment shown. See disclaimers on page 61. INNOVATION At last, something both siblings can agree on. The available dual-screen Rear-Seat Entertainment System5 in the GX enables two video sources to be viewed at the same time. Using a single remote control, one can be used, for instance, as a DVD player and the other as a game console or audio player. Wireless headphones6 are also graciously included, leaving the driver free to enjoy something entirely different: silence. AMENITIES SUSPENSION POWER RIDE CAPABILITY PERFORMANCE PERFORMANCE SAFETY INNOVATION SPECS AT ITS BEST WHEN THINGS ARE AT THEIR WORST. Whether it’s a bouldery incline or a parallel-parking space that’s tighter than you’d prefer, every day is filled with obstacles. Fortunately, the GX 460 is filled with answers. To name a few: a suspension system that helps enhance your capability on- and off-road, among the tightest turning circles in its class, and an engine that delivers extraordinary power and remarkable fuel efficiency. AMENITIES PERFORMANCE SAFETY SPECS 2010 model shown. Optional equipment shown. INNOVATION ANYTIME, ANYWHERE. On-road. Off-road. Suspension systems are typically designed for one or the other. The notable exception: the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System on the GX. On-road, the system can automatically hold the front and rear stabilizer bars in place, helping to minimize body lean while cornering. And off-road, it reacts to uneven surfaces by automatically adjusting the bars, increasing wheel articulation. This helps the GX keep its wheels in contact with the ground for improved traction and control. AMENITIES PERFORMANCE SAFETY INNOVATION A SIXTH GEAR THAT QUIETS THE ENGINE. AS WELL AS THE SKEPTICS. SPECS Add an intelligent six-speed automatic transmission to a powerful, 301-horsepower,7 4.6-liter V8 engine and you don’t just turn heads, you silence critics. Because, in addition to reducing the amount of engine noise and vibration you’ll experience in the cabin, the addition of the sixth gear also improves fuel efficiency. So much so that the GX offers one of the highest combined V8 fuel-economy ratings in its class.8 Optional equipment shown. See disclaimers on page 61. PERFORMANCE SPEAKS VOLUMES. AMENITIES WHEN IT COMES TO ON-ROAD HANDLING, SILENCE SAFETY INNOVATION To provide a nearly unparalleled level of quietness, the frame of the GX is designed to absorb noise and vibration before it enters the cabin. And even then, unwanted sounds must pass through a gauntlet of floor-to-ceiling dampening and insulation measures. Additionally, to make your quiet ride an even more enjoyable one, an available Adaptive Variable Suspension enables you to customize the degree of road feel to one of three settings. SPECS Optional equipment shown. AMENITIES PERFORMANCE SAFETY INNOVATION A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT TAKE ON THE WORD. Optional equipment shown. See disclaimers on page 61. SPECS “INSURMOUNTABLE.” Conquering the most intimidating terrain is second nature in the GX. In addition to full-time 4WD and a TORSEN® limited-slip center differential,9 it features what can be thought of as the off-road equivalent of cruise control. With the press of a button, available Crawl Control10 carefully manages the throttle and brakes to help you maintain a slow, consistent speed up, down and over rugged terrain, enhancing your traction and leaving you with a far less daunting task: steering. AMENITIES PERFORMANCE SAFETY HEADLAMPS SAFETY PRE-COLLISION AIRBAGS EVER PLANS TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT. ON THE CONTRARY. Optional equipment shown. See disclaimers on page 61. SPECS We’ve spent years preparing for an event we hope never takes place. Developing technology to help you see more and react faster to potentially avoid a collision. And if one is unavoidable, you can be assured that we’ve planned for that, too. The GX is equipped with a highly advanced 10 airbag11 system. INNOVATION THEY SAY NOBODY AMENITIES UNTHINKABLE. SPECS See disclaimers on page 61. INNOVATION LANE DEPARTURE ALERT Using a camera that monitors the lane markings, the available Lane Departure Alert14 is designed to help detect if the GX is beginning to drift out of its lane. If so, it can warn you with a series of audible and visual alerts. SAFETY When time is of the essence, distraction can be a danger. That’s where the available Pre-Collision System12 with Driver Attention Monitor13 comes in. A first in its class, it uses a frontmounted radar sensor that can help detect an object ahead and a camera attached to the steering column that can help discern the position of your face. If you’re not facing forward when a potential collision is detected, it sounds a warning and, if necessary, lightly taps the brakes to get your attention.13 And, if it deems a collision is imminent, it can even apply increased braking force the moment the driver steps on the brake pedal. PERFORMANCE JUST A FEW OF THE WAYS WE’VE THOUGHT ABOUT THE AMENITIES YOUR FOCUS: ONE THING THAT SHOULD NEVER GO OFF-ROAD. PERFORMANCE SAFETY INNOVATION When you’re rounding a turn in the dark, the advanced Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)18 available on the GX can help illuminate the road by rotating the right headlamp up to 10 degrees and the left headlamp up to 15 degrees into a turn. Optional equipment shown. See disclaimers on page 61. SPECS INTELLIGENT HIGH-BEAM HEADLAMPS The GX also offers available intelligent high-beam headlamps.17 They operate in high-beam mode until the system detects the headlamps from an oncoming vehicle or other vehicles traveling closely ahead, and then temporarily enters into low-beam mode until vehicles are no longer detected. AMENITIES PRESENTING 10 FEATURES WE HOPE YOU NEVER SEE. PERFORMANCE SAFETY INNOVATION in part, based on the severity of impact and/or seat-track position; driver and frontpassenger knee airbags11; side-curtain airbags11 that nearly run the length of the interior; and standard second-row outboard seatbelt pre-tensioners. Optional equipment shown. See disclaimers on page 61. SPECS When you own a GX, you’re surrounded by remarkable thinking. Literally. With a classleading19 10 airbags11 and a host of safety systems, the GX helps to protect you and your passengers in a myriad of ways. Among them: driver and front-passenger airbags11 that deploy, FORGE NEW PATHS. PERFORMANCE The available voice command is just one of its many innovations. It is designed to understand the way people actually speak. To raise the temperature, for instance, you need only say, “It’s too cold,” and the interior will warm by four degrees. And, from the destination menu, if you say, “I need an ATM,” the closest locations will be displayed. AMENITIES THERE’S MORE THAN ONE WAY TO SAFETY VISION CONVENIENCE NAVIGATION INNOVATION INNOVATION INNOVATION AUDIO SPECS Optional equipment shown. AMENITIES PERFORMANCE IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD. SPECS Optional equipment shown. See disclaimers on page 61. INNOVATION You can’t avoid what you can’t see. So the GX offers an available Wide-view Front and Side Monitor.20 At low speeds, a small camera on the front grille and one under the passenger sidemirror can help provide greater visibility, which makes navigating blind intersections, narrow passages and parking spaces even more convenient. The GX also features a standard backup camera.21 When placed in reverse, an inconspicuous camera lens located above the rear license plate transmits a wide-angle view behind you to a dash-mounted screen. Explore the areas on the left to see what you otherwise might have missed. SAFETY VISIONARY. L E X U S E N F O R M® SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE. PERFORMANCE With the available Lexus Enform1,2 system, you can speak to a live service agent, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You don’t have to memorize any numbers, navigate through seemingly endless screens—or even have your cell phone with you. Need an address? Simply call Destination Assist via the GX’s available Navigation System22 for live assistance. Once you’ve decided on a location, your agent can send the turn-by-turn directions straight to your vehicle’s Navigation System.22 Planning a trip? You also have the option of pre-selecting up to 200 destinations online and sending them to your vehicle. AMENITIES DESIGNED TO HELP SAFETY SAF E T Y CON N ECT® SAFEGUARD YOUR LIFE. See disclaimers on page 61. SPECS With Safety Connect1,3 you can request emergency help, whether that means assisting the police with locating your stolen vehicle or requesting Enhanced Roadside Assistance23 for a flat tire. The Safety Connect1,3 service (one-year subscription included) also features Automatic Collision Notification, which automatically sends a call for help the moment the system senses the vehicle has been in a severe rear-end collision or the airbags11 have been deployed. INNOVATION DESIGNED TO HELP AMENITIES PERFORMANCE SAFETY INNOVATION AFTER ROCKS, DUNES AND MOGULS, The GX is designed to overcome nearly every type of obstacle.
