Water temperature gauge The speedometer displays the car running speed in terms of km/h. The tachometer displays the engine revolution per minute (rpm) Shifting into higher gear as early as possible will help save fuel and reduce noise. Avoid high engine revolution speed during the running-in period. 8 Fuel gauge The pointer of the engine water temperature gauge must be within the normal range. If the pointer turns to the red zone, stop the car immediately, stop the engine, and open the hood to check the coolant level and the water pump drive belt. If the cooling system fails to work normally, contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service centers prom -ptly for checking. If the engine gets overheated, do not open the water box cover. Or, the coolant may be pressured out and result in scalds. The water box cover shall not be open until the engine is fully cooled down. The fuel gauge pointer indicates the approximate fuel quantity in the fuel tank. This fuel gauge functions when the ignition switch is on. If the fuel gauge pointer points to the red zone and its alarm lamp comes on, refill the fuel at gas stations nearby as soon as possible to ensure a normal drive. Gear display Vehicle models equipped with AT (automatic transmission) possess the gear display function which separately displays the following content according to automatic/manual mode: in the case of automatic mode: it displays "P, R, N and D" gears according to the position of shift handle; in the case of manual mode: it displays "1, 2, 3 and 4" gears according to the target gear position for the gearbox. Please use No. 93 or above unlea -ded petrol . 9 Odometer/Clock Alarm lamp and indicator lamp 2.reset button The reset button is used to switch odometer modes, adjust clock setting and reset. 3.clock Clock Odometer Reset button 1.Odometer Accumulated mileage: It means the accumulated mileage of the drived distance. Trip mileage: It means a short mileage within a trip. The two mileage display modes can be switched by pressing the reset button. When in the accumulated mileage mode, press the reset button to switch to the trip mileage display mode. Press and hold the reset button to reset the displayed value to zero. Press the reset button will return to the accumulated mileage display mode. 10 Time setting: (a) Switch to the accumulated mileage display mode ;(b) in such a mode, press and hold the reset button until the "hour digit" and "minute digit" flash. At this time, the time setting can begin; (c)When the "hour digit" and "minute digit" flash, press the button to set the time; (d) When the time setting is completed, the system will automatically quit the set mode. Airbag (SRS) indicator lamp When the ignition switch is at the ON position or when the engine is started, if the airbag (SRS) indicator lamp comes on and flashes for 6 seconds and then goes out, it means that the airbag (SRS) system is ready. When the ignition switch is at the "ON" position or when the engine is started, if the airbag (SRS) indicator lamp remains off, or fails to go off after flashing for 6 seconds or comes on during driving, it means that the airbag (SRS) system functions abnormally. Contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for checking. ABS alarm lamp When the ignition switch turns to the" ON"position, and if the ABS alarm lamp remains on a few seconds and then goes out, it means that the ABS system has finished self-inspection and is under normal working condition. When the ABS alarm lamp remains on or comes on during driving or goes out when the ignition switch turns to the ON position, it means that the ABS system goes wrong. At this time, the brake system works normally, but the ABS system fails. Contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for checking. If the ABS alarm lamp remains on or comes on during driving, it means that the ABS system may fail to work. Avoid the emergency braking. Contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for checking. Left/right turn indicator lamp The L/R turn indicator lamp is used to determine whether the turn lights work normally. The green flash arrow on the instrument board is used to display the turning signal. If the arrow remains displayed and does not flash or if its flash frequency is high or it remains off, it means that the turning signal system goes wrong. Contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for repair. High beam indicator lamp When the headlamp switch switches to the High Beam position, the high beam lamp will come on. Front fog lamp When the front fog lamp is on, the indicator lamp goes on. Rear fog lamp When the rear fog lamp is on, the indicator lamp goes on. Engine oil pressure alarm lamp When the engine oil pressure drops or the system malfunction occurs, the engine oil pressure alarm lamp will come on. Normally, the engine oil pressure alarm lamp will come on when the ignition switch turns to the "ON" position and go out after the engine is started. If the alarm lamp remains on after the engine is started or comes on during driving, it means that the engine oil quantity is insufficient or other malfun -ctions occur. In such case, stop the car immediately for oil quantity checking to ensure the driving safety. If the oil level is low, add oil and re-start the engine. If the alarm lamp remains on after enough oil is added, 11 contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for checking. When the oil pressure is far too low, stop the car to avoid the engine being severely damaged. Brake system malfunction alarm lamp When the ignition switch turns to the ON or START position, the alarm lamp will come on. It will go out when the engine is stared and the parking brake is released. If the alarm lamp comes on at other moment, slow down the car and drive your car to a safe place and stop it. If the oil level in the brake master cylinder is low, the alarm lamp will come on. If the alarm lamp goes out and there are no other malfunctions 12 occurring after adding a proper quantity of brake oil meeting DOT4 specifications, promptly start your car and drive carefully to the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for checking. If the alarm lamp remains on but there are other malfunctions, do not start your car. Use a special trailer or other safety methods to tow your car to the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for checking. If you deem that there is a malf -unction in the brake system, promptly contact the JAC authorized after-service centers for checking. It may be hazardous and result in injuries to drive your car if the brake system fails to work normally. Cruise indicator lamp (if equipped) A constant speed cruise control system will be activated and the cruise indicator lamp on the instrument board will come on after pressing the CRUISE control switch. The cruise system will be switched off when the cruise control switch is reset. At the same time, the constant speed cruise control function will be released and deactivated. The cruise indicator lamp on the instrument board will go out. Charging indicator lamp The charging indicator lamp will come on when the ignition switch turns to the "ON" position and go out when the engine is started. The indicator lamp remains on when the engine is running, it means that the charging system fails. Promptly contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for checking. In such case, driving with indicator lamp on will discharge all the remaining electric quantity of the battery. If having to drive a short time with indicator lamp on, make sure that as many unnecessary electric devices including radio, AC and interior lighting as possible are off. Door ajar indicator lamp The indicator lamp functions as a remainder device showing whether car doors are closed. If the doors are open or not fully closed, the indicator lamp will come on. Safety belt indicator lamp When the ignition key turns from OFF to ON or to START position, the safety belt indicator lamp will come on. It will go out after the engine is started and it is sufficiently buckled. Fuel alarm lamp When the level of fuel tank is low, the fuel alarm lamp will come on. In such case, add fuel as soon as possible. Driving your car will lead to an engine flameout and damage of catalytic converter when the fuel alarm lamp is on or the fuel level is lower than the "E" position. Engine malfunction indicator lamp The engine malfunction indicator lamp is an integral part of the on-board diagnosis system and used to monitor engine malfunctions. The indicator lamp will come on when the ignition switch turns to "ON" and go out when the engine is off. If the indicator lamp comes on during driving or remains off when turning to ON, promptly contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for checking. Emission malfunction alarm lamp Theemissionmalfunction indicator lamp is an integral part of the on-board diagnosis system and used to monitor the emission system. The alarm lamp will come when the malfunctions of the emission system or its compon -ents lead to undesirable results. The alarm lamp will come on when the ignition switch turns to "ON" and go out when the engine is started. If the alarm lamp remains on when driving or remains off when the ignition switch turns to ON, promptly contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for checking. 13 Trunk lid open indicator lamp If the trunk lid is not closed or it is not closed in place, this indicator lamp lights up. Steering lamp system locking indicator When the ignition switch is located at "ACC" or "ON" position, this lamp will flash once you open the vehicle door, try to lock it up or leave the vehicle in order to remind you to turn the ignition switch to "LOCK" position before leaving. Intelligent key position indicator lamp KEY This indicator lamp will flash in the following three conditions so as to remind the user: 1) When the intelligent key is not in the interior sensing area, press the ignition 14 switch knob, the buzzer produces a long beeping and this indicator lamp flashes. If the knob is not pressed again within 10 sec., this indicator lamp goes out after 10 sec. 2) when the vehicle is unlocked and the ignition switch is located at "LOCK" position, if the intelligent key can be scanned in the interior and exterior, press the request button on the door handle at the driver's side or front passenger's side, this indicator lamps will flash and all of the four doors can not be locked all the time. 3) Key left-in-vehicle reminding: when the vehicle is unlocked and the ignition switch knob is located at "ON" or "ACC" position and the system detects that the driver's side door is opened and then closed, the system will start scanning whether the intelligent key is left in the vehicle within 3 sec. If so, this indicator lamps will keep flashing for 10 sec. and all of the four doors can not be locked. TCU lamp malfunction mode indicator In the case of abnormities in the gearbox, this indicator lamp will flash. Key Common key Transponder (if eqiupped) the transponder can be completed by the transponder together with the anti-theft induction coil. To help you enjoy your drive, your car is equipped with two keys to lock all doors. It is recommended that you keep one key in safe location as a standby key to avoid such situation where the keys are accidentally locked in your car. If your key is equipped with the engine IMMO, there will be the transponder in the key. The transponder is a passive signal transceiver installed in the ignition key. By excitation from an anti-theft induction coil magnetic field, the transponder can send radio-frequency signals. The transmission of signals and energy between the anti-theft controller and The data in the transponder is unique. If your key is lost, the matching of transponder information and vehicle data signals must be performed by professionals from the JAC appointed sales and service shop. 15 Key tooth code Battery replacement The key tooth code is recorded in the place as shown in the above figure. In view of the safety, it is recommended that you write down the key tooth code after purchasing and put the record in a safe place for emergency use. In addition, if you lost your key, you need only to provide the key tooth code to the JAC authorized after -service center and the JAC authorized after-service center will make new key for you. When the battery of the remote control gets weak, you may need to press the button several times to lock or unlock your car. In such case, the indicator lamp will remain off. Replace the battery as soon as possible. 16 Replacement instruction: 1. Remove the cover board from the remote control front surface. Pull off the transmitter. 2. Carefully open the transmitter cover. Take out the old battery and place a new one. Make sure that the battery polarity is the same (The positive pole must be upward) 3. Cover the transmitter cover. Make sure that the board is firmly covered to prevent water penetration 4. Install the transmitter into the remote key and firmly cover the board 5. Test the function of transmitter 茵Avoid touching the circuit board when replacing the battery. The static electricity from your body to the circuit board may damage the transmitter. Door lock Unlock or lock front doors with key 茵Do not touch two surfaces of the battery with bare hands. Or, it may shorten the battery service life. 茵The waste batteries are hazar -dous to the environment. Deliver the waste batteries to a designated recovery place compl -ying with local regulations on waste battery disposal and reco -very. Do not throw waster batteries into domestic garbage bins. Lock door without using key ON OFF Insert and turn the key countercloc -kwise when locking the doors outside. Insert and turn the key clockwise when unlocking the door. Then pull outward the door handle to open. It may lock the door without using the key: First, turn the ignition switch key to LOCK. Next, pull out the key. Then, press the central lock lever. Last, close the door. The door is locked. The vehicle anti-theft system will not work when locking doors with above method. Lock all doors and take the key with you when leaving your car unattended. 15 17 Central lock switch Central lock rod ON OFF Rear door child safety lock ON OFF The central lock assembly is located on the left front door switch panel. The switch is used to lock or unlock all doors from inside of the car. Press the rear end of the switch to lock all doors. Press the front end of the switch to unlock all doors. The door lever on the driver and secondary driver seats can also be used to lock or unlock all doors. Push downward the lever to lock four doors. Pull upward the lever to unlock four doors. Other door levers can be separately used to lock or unlock their corresponding door. Four doors will not be locked until the driver door and secondary driver door are closed when the vehicle key is still inserted. The doors will not be locked using the above method when these two doors are open. 18 Your car is equipped with the rear door child safety lock. When the rear door child safety lock is activated, it's guaranteed that the rear door can't be opened from inside. Ii is recommended in this manual that you use the child safety lock when driving with a child (children) in your car. Child safety lock setting When setting the child safety lock, you need to pull the lock at the rear edge of rear doors to the " "position before closing doors. Release child safety lock To release child safety lock, open rear doors from outside and pull the lock at the rear edge of rear doors to the" "position before closing doors. Do not forcefully pull the inside door handle to prevent handle from getting damaged when the child safety lock is in the " "position 茵Leaving your car door unlocked may be hazardous. Make sure that all doors are locked (especially when children are in your car) before driving to prevent the doors from getting open suddenly. Tie belts and close doors to avoid you and other passengers from being thrown out during an accident. 茵Look around carefully before opening car doors in order to prevent leading to traffic accident. Remote control door lock system Lock doors: 1. Press the" "button on the remote control. 2. Four doors will be simultaneously locked and the turn indicator lamp will flash once to show that the system is guarded. Unlock doors: 1. Press the " "button on the remote control. 2. Four doors will be simultaneously unlocked and the turn indicator lamp will flash twice to show that the system alarm status is released. Anti-theft alarm system (If equipped) Your car is equipped with the anti-theft alarm system. The anti -theft alarm system will not be activated until you press the remote control door lock transmitter. The system will not be activated by closing the door. Activate the anti-theft alarm system Activate the anti-theft alarm system as below: 1.Turn the ignition switch to LOCK and pull out the ignition key 2. Close the doors and windows. Make sure the windows are fully closed. The anti-theft alarm system may be activated even when windows remain open. 3. Lock the doors via the remote door lock transmitter. When the transmitter is pressed, its light-emitting dioxide indicator will flash. At the same time, 19 Intelligent key (if equipped) the turn indicator lamps will flash once. It means that four doors have been locked and the anti-theft mode has been activated. The anti-theft alarm system will be triggered when opening doors with any other way. Release anti-theft alarm system Release the anti-theft alarm system as below: Press the unlocking button on the transmitter. -The transmitter LED indicator flashes -All doors are open -The hazard warning light flashes twice -Anti-theft mode is released If doors remain closed or the engine is not started 30s after the anti-theft mode is released by using the trans -mitter, all doors will be automatically re-locked and the anti-theft mode will be re-activated. 20 Black button Part of vehicles are equipped with intelligent keys as shown in the figure. When using this key, it is not necessary to insert the key for vehicle door locking and unlocking as well as engine starting. Tooth profile code of the key is recorded on the attached key code plate. For security reasons, it is recommended to take down and properly keep the tooth profile code after purchasing the vehicle. In the case of a missing key, you need only provide the key tooth profile code to specially permitted after-sales service stations of JAC and then they will make a new key for you. When you want to pull out the key, press the release button at the end of the key and gently pull the mechanical key outward and you can take out the short mechanical key which is hidden in the intelligent key. In the case of reinstallation of the mechanical key, insert the key into the key hole and keep pushing it until there is a "snap" sound. Replacement of battery In the case of too low battery capacity of the intelligent key, corresponding indicator lamp turns from green to red and it is indicated that it is time to replace the battery for the key. Please use the battery with the same model in the replacement. After the completion of battery replacement, press any button on the remote controller for three times accumulatively and the indicator lamp will turn to green. In the case of too low battery capacity, although the indicator lamp does not turn to red, the remote control distance will be shortened obviously. Remote control door lock system operation Keyless access function Request button Car finder button Lock-up button Unlock button Lock-up and unlock function Release door lock-up and unlocking via pressing "Lock-up button" or "Unlock button" on the intelligent key. The specific operation steps are the same with those for the common remote controller. Car finder function Keep pressing the car finder button for 1.5 sec., the hazard warning lamp of the vehicle will be flashing for 15 sec. with the horn whistling simultaneously. Unlocking function In the case of a locked vehicle, when the user approaches the vehicle with the intelligent key in hand, press the request button on the door handle at the driver's side or front passenger's side, doors are unlocked, hazard warning lamps flash for two times and anti-theft alarm disables. 21 The sensing area for the intelligent key outside the vehicle is within 1m from the door handle center. If the vehicle door is not opened within 30 sec. after disabling the anti-theft alarm and the intelligent key is not in the vehicle after 30 sec, vehicle doors will be locked up automatically and the anti-theft system enables. When the vehicle is locked-up and the intelligent key is in the interior, press the request button on the door handle at the driver's side or front passenger's side, there will not be any operation at all. 22 Lock-up function When the vehicle is unlocked, there is no intelligent key in the interior, the ignition switch is located at LOCK position and all doors are closed completely, press the request button on the door handle at the driver's side or front passenger's side, vehicle doors will be locked-up, the hazard warning lamp flashes for one time and the vehicle anti-theft system enables. Please verify whether the engine hood and trunk lid are closed in place when lock up the vehicle with this method or with the application of remote control function of the key to avoid unwanted losses. When enabling lock-up function, if vehicle doors are not closed completely, doors get locked without hazard warning lamp flashing. At the moment, the anti-theft system is not activated while it is activated when all vehicle doors are closed. When the vehicle is unlocked and there is no intelligent key in the interior, if the ignition switch is located at ACC or ON position, press the request button on the door handle at the driver's side or front passenger's side, the "steering system lock-up indicator lamp" on the instrument keeps flashing for 10 sec. and four doors can not be locked up all the time. When the vehicle is unlocked and the ignition switch is located at LOCK position, if the intelligent key can be scanned in the interior and exterior, press the request button on the door handle at the driver's side or front passenger's side, "intelligent key position indicator lamp" on the instrument flashes and four doors can not be locked all the time. Keep the intelligent key away from direct sunlight to avoid its fault due to being heated. Keep the intelligent key dry. Do not throw or drop the intelligent key to avoid its internal circuit element damage. When using the intelligent key for vehicle door lock-up, please ensure that all windows or the sun roof is closed in place to avoid interior item losses. Windows When the ignition switch is at the ON position, the operations of power windows will be available. The main control is on the door panel at the left side of the driver seat. Controls controlling their corresponding windows locate on the door panel at the side of secondary driver and rear seats. Push downward those controls to lower the windows. Pull upward those controls to raise the windows. Or, it will result in jammed windows which can not be raised or lowered. 茵Raise the windows with care to avoid injuries. 23 Window locking control Fast lowering window glass control A window lock control mounted on the main control panel will avoid pass -enger's free operating the secondary driver and rear windows. Push down the window lock control button so that the secondary driver and rear window controls will not work. The driver can control all locked windows. Push down the window lock control button again so that the secondary driver and rear window controls will return to normal. The driver seat power window control can also be employed to fast lower window glass. By pushing downward the control to the bottom and then releasing it, the window glass will fast lower to its bottom. The lowering window glass will stop by pushing downward the control again. Lift and hold the control will lift the window glass. The power window lock control must be used with a child on rear seats. 24 The LF auto window control has AUTO (automatically lower to the bottom) and TOUCH-MOVE modes only and other windows only have the TOUCH-MOVE mode. Secondary driver/passenger seat window control Open: Push downward the control to open window. Close: Pull upward the control to close window. Sun roof (if equipped) Power sun roof operation The sun roof can be opened or tilted. It can be opened or closed only when the ignition key turns to ON. Press the Sun roof switch buttons" " or " "to open or close sun roof and adjust to your desired position. Tilting adjustment procedure: Press and hold the sun roof switch button "UP" to till the rear end of sun roof. Press and hold the other end to return to its original location. Sun roof sun visor When the sun roof is closed, slide the sun visor forward or backward to open or close the sun visor. When the sun roof is open, the sun visor can be automatically opened, but it can only be manually closed. ○If hands/arms/body is trapped between the sliding glass and the sun roof frame, do not close the sun roof to avoid injuries. ○Never stand outside the sun roof or reach out your body dur -ing driving. ○Do not open the sun roof when it is cold or there is snow on it. ○Clear and lubricate the slide rail at regular intervals. ○Dry the sun roof after your car is washed or undergoes rain. 25 Engine hood Support-free engine hood (if equipped) Strut bar engine hood The engine hood release switch is located at the lower left of the driver cab console. Open/close operation procedure comes as follows: 1. Pull outward the engine hood switch. 2. Reach out your left hand into the inner side of the engine hood front edge, release the safety poke rod and lift the engine hood. 3. Support the engine hood with the strut bar. 4. Remove the strut bar before closing the engine hood. Slowly lower it. Make it drop 30cm away from its lock point. Make sure that the engine hood falls back to its original location and is locked. Make the wiper fully contact the windshield before opening the engine hood. Or, the wiper arm may be damaged by the engine hood. 26 A hydraulic support rod is attached to the support-free engine hood if equip -ped to your car. When opening the engine hood, you need only to lift it. You can close it only by pressing it downward with force. Procedure of opening/closing the support freeengine hood is as below: 1. Pull out the engine hood to release switch. 2. Reach out your hand into the inner side of the engine hood front edge to release its safety yoke rod and then lift the engine hood. 3. You can close it only by pressing it downward with force, till it's locked. 4. Check the lock catch for firm locking after closing the engine hood. ○To avoid an accident, make sure that the engine hood is fully locked before driving. Or, it may open and block your sight when your car is driving. 。 ○Always insert the support rod into the snap-in to prevent it from falling down and causing injuries whenever checking the engine. ○If the engine hood is kept lifted, do not start your car. Or, it will block your sight or fall down or be damaged. Description of operation safety in engine compartment As any work (including checking and adding brake fluid) conducted on the engine or in engine compartment may result in scalds, injuries, accidents or fire hazards, measures must therefore be taken to ensure operation safety. To promptly discover fuel or oil leakage, frequently check your parking lot to see if there is any fuel or oil stain or trace. If there is any leakage, drive your car to the JAC authorized after -service centers for repair. ○Be careful when carrying out any operation on the engine or in its compartment. ○Do not open the engine hood whenever there is steam rising or coolant over-flowing to avoid scalds. Work can be carried out only when there is no steam rising out or coolant overflowing and when the engine is cooled down. ○Pull out the ignition key and apply the parking brake after the engine is turned off. Make sure that the transmission is in Neutral or P position. ○Keep children away from the engine. ○Never touch the cooling fan when the engine is still running. In such case, the fan may suddenly be started. In addition, never open 27 the seal cover of the coolant reserve tank because the radiation system is still under pressure. ○Make sure that the coolant will never drop onto the hot exhaust port or other engine components. In such case, the anti-freeze in the coolant may spontaneously fire. ○If you have to carry out some works including service, checking or adjustment with the engine running, other rotating components such as belts, the generator and the cooling fan may lead to dangers. ○If you have to repair components with the fuel system or electrical equipment in operating conditions, take the following measures: -Disconnect the battery with the electrical system. -No smoking. 28 -No operation shall be carried out near open flames. ○Never mix different kinds of fuel or oil when adding them. Or, it may cause a severe functional defect. Engine IMMO (if eqiupped) Each vehicle is equipped with the special ECU, IMMO, Coil and Transponder; When starting the vehicle, turn the key to the ON gear, and the IMMO will be awakened. After wireless authentication with the Transponder, the wired authentication with the ECU will be performed. After passing the authentication, the ECM ignition and fuel injection will be normal; if the authentication fails, the vehicle will not be started. If your vehicle cannot be started by the JAC key, please contact the JAC appointed sales and service shop as soon as possible to check the vehicle. Trunk Pull upward the trunk handle And lift the trunk cover to open it. You may also open the trunk using your car key after unlocking your car via the remote key. Filler cap Pull outward the filler cap at the lower front of the driver seat to open it. If the ice around the filler cap hinders its opening, slightly knock or push the cap to break the ice and then open it. Never pry it open. If necessary, spray a recog -nized de-icing agent (the antifre -ezing solution in radiation system is disallowed) around the cap. You can also drive your car to a warm place where the ice will melt. The toxic exhaust gas hazardous to human health may enter into the passenger compartment when driving with the trunk open. 29 Instrument background illumination adjustment knob Stir the Instrument background illum -ination adjustment knob to adjust its illumination intensity. 30 Hazard warning light Rear window defroster The hazard warning light will come on even when the ignition switch is off. Under the following circumstances, you may switch on the hazard warning light: -Emergency. -Malfunctions causing your car to be in an unsafe condition. -You have to park your car in an unsafe place due to malfunctions. The rear window defroster will work only when the engine is running. When the defroster switch button is pressed, its indicator lamp will come on. The defroster will automatically stop working about 20s after it is switched on. Re-pressing its switch button will stop it ahead of time. Interior illumination Switch off the heater when there is no frost on rear windows which may block your sight. Reducing the power consumption will help save fuel and realize an economic and environmentallyfriendly driving. ○To protect the battery, you shall switch on the defroster with the engine running. You have to re -switch on the defroster each time the engine is started. ○The rear window defroster will work only when the engine is running. Front seat reading lamp equipped ) Rear dome light ( if The switches of two reading lamps are located on the overhead body roof. Press left or right switch buttons (in the redline frame) to separately switch on each reading lamp. The reading lamp gives off spot light beams for reading illumination or as lighting facilities of the driver and passengers. The button of rear dome light have three working positions: ●DOOR (●)-In such mode, the light will come on when doors are opened and go out when doors are closed regardless of the ignition key. Note: If the rear dome light is a time-delay light, it will go out gradually in 6s after doors are closed. ●ON-The rear dome light will remain on under the "ON" mode. ●OFF-The rear dome light will remain off under the"OFF"mode. 31 Door control light (if equipped) Never turn the dome light switch to ON when your car is not driving. The door control light will come on when opening front or rear doors. The door control light is at the inner side of doors. Low beam The low beam will help you safely drive at night when you are familiar with a 34 The front fog lamp will come to work when visibility is poor (e.g. foggy days). It can give off penetrating beams to ensure your and other passengers' safety. Rear fog lamp The rear fog lamp is designed to inform vehicles behind you when visibility is poor. This will avoid a traffic accident. The brake lamp is utilized to remind and warn pedestrians or drivers of vehicles behind you. The high-mount brake lamp will work as an auxiliary reminder and warning device of the brake lamp. To ensure your and others` safety, check your car to see if its brake lamps work normally. If they fail to work or have been damaged, repair them promptly to avoid traffic accidents. Reversing lamp License plate lamp Rear turn light Reversing lamp Rear turn light License plate lamp The reversing lamp will inform drivers of vehicles behind you or pedestrians of your driving direction when rever -sing your car. In order to avoid collisions or being trapped in soft roads, you had better get off to look through road conditions behind you when reversing. The license plate lamp is employed to inform persons outside of information about your car. The turn light will remind drivers or pedestrians behind your car of your driving direction. Switch on turn lights 50 to 100m before accessing a bend, entrance or turning so that drivers and pedestrians behind you can under -stand your driving direction, avoiding possible traffic accidents. 35 Combined switch Side turn light Multifunction steering wheel (if equipped) Turn light switch Button function 1.Volume increasing button 2.Volume decreasing button 3.Knob Rotating the knob upward enters the last song, while rotating the knob downward enters the next song. Press for a short time of this button could pause and pressing it for a long time shall shut down. 4.Mute button You can send your turning or lane -changing information to other vehic -les or pedestrians by means of the turn light switch. The turn light will come on only when the ignition switch is on. Push upward the turn light switch control lever to show right turning signal. Push downward the turn light switch control lever to show left turning signal. In such case, the left and right turn lights on the instrument board will flash. Side turn light The side turn light will inform drivers or pedestrians at both sides of your driving direction. 36 When driving out of a bend and the steering wheel is resumed to straight driving direction, the turn light switc -hes and their indicators will return to their original status and get swit -ched off. Headlamp switch In the auto-lighting status, the headlamp will be automatically turned on when night falls or when light is dim. The headlamp will be automa -tically turned off at daytime or when light is bright. High beam -neously come on. Pull the control lever towards your body and you will switch to the low beam. Headlamp flasher To make the headlamp flash, you need to pull the switch towards your body and then release it. The headlamp may flash even when its switch is in the OFF position. Front fog lamp switch (if equipped) The headlamp will be turned on or off by turning the bucket-shaped switch at the end of combined switch. When the bucket-shaped switch is turned to position 2, the position lamp, license plate lamp and instrument light will come on. When the bucket-shaped switch is turned to position 3, it will switch to an auto-lighting status. By turning the bucket-shaped switch at the end of combined switch to the high beam symbol position and at the same time pushing the control lever away from your body, you will turn on the high beam. In such case, the high beam and its indicator lamp will simulta The front fog lamp will come on when turning the knob at the middle of the light control lever to ON. The front fog lamp will go out when turning the knob 37 at the middle of the light control lever to OFF. The fog lamp will work only when the ignition switch is at ON (turn-on) position. Wiper switch operation When the ignition switch turns to "ON", switches of windshield wiper or washer will work. Switch positions come as follows: 1. :When the switch turns to , the wiper will work for a short time. Once 38 releasing, the switch will reset and the wiper will stop working. 2.0FF: It means OFF. 3.INT: It means INTERMITTENT. When the switch turns to "INT", the sway interval of the wiper may be adjusted between 1 and 18 seconds by means of switch. 4.LOW: It means low speed operation 5.HI: It means high speed operation. Wiper intermittent operation int -erval adjustment Turning the wiper switch to "INT "will cause the wiper to operate interm -ittently. When the wiper switch is in the INT position, its intermittent operation interval will change between 1and 18s by turning its knob. In winters or under freezing wea -thers, check to see if the wiper blade has been frozen on the windshield before starting the wiper. Windshield cleaner manipulation To use the windshield washer, you should pull the wiper/washer control lever in your direction. When the washer is activated, its water sprayer will spray cleaning fluid from the windshield spray nozzle. At the same time, the wiper will work and not stop until the control lever is released. ○The operational duration of the sprayer shall not exceed 15s. Never use the washer when there is no cleaning fluid in its can. ○In the region vulnerable to freez -ing in winter, an anti-freezing windshield cleaning fluid must be used. ○Before operating the wiper under a lower temperature enviro -nment, you need to check to see if the wiper blade has been frozen onto the windshield. Or, it may cause the wiper motor burn-out. ○If any ice or other foreign materials on the windshield stop the wiper, which may lead to burn-out of wiper motor, promptly stop your car, switch off the ignition switch, and clear the ice or foreign materials to free the wiper. Or, it may cause the wiper motor to be burned out. ○If the windshield surface is dry, do not use the wiper. Or, it may result in an early wear of the wiper blade and the scratch of the windshield. 39 Sun visor Front seat sun visor with a make -up mirror On the back of the Sun visor there is a make-up mirror. When the headlamp is on, the make-up mirror (if equipped) lamp will come on only by opening its cover. Rear view mirror Side rear view mirror adjustment switch (if equipped) Two Sun visors are provided in the front of the driver and front seats of your car to shade your eyes and passengers' eyes from the sun from the front and sides of your car. When the sun is too shining, you can pull down the Sun visor to protect your eyes. To block the sun from both sides, you need to open the Sun visor in the front of front seats and rotate it to left or right side. 40 L R Adjust the rear view mirror to a proper position to ensure broad back eyeshot for you before driving. The rear view mirror can be adjusted within ±7° in four directions to obtain max back eyeshot. Rear view mirrors at both sides can be adjusted by operating the adjustment switch. Procedure of rear view mirror position adjustment comes as follows: 1. Switch the adjustment switch to "R" or"L"to activates the adjustment mecha -nism. 2.Press the four sides around the adjuster button to appropriately adjust the angle of rear view mirrors as shown in the above figure. Folding side rear view mirror Rear view mirrors will be folded by pushing them inward to the inside. When parking lots are small, you need to fold rear view mirrors. ○Never put hands between the rear view mirror and its legs when folding it to avoid injuries. ○An incorrect maintenance may damage rear view mirrors. Never try to scrape off ice on the surface of rear view mirrors. Never take forceful measures to remove ice or other foreign materials on the surface of rear view mirrors which may block their free movement. Use the ice spray or fan heater for de-icing. the rear view mirror to move it up or down and left or right. If your car has day/night interior rear view mirror modes, you need to pull in your seat direction a flap at the bottom of the rear view mirror to switch to its "night" mode. By so adjusting, you will reduce the dazzling degree of beams from headlamps of vehicle behind you. Interior rear view mirror Blur back eyeshot from the interior Rear view mirror will be hazardous for your safe driving. Change the flap To obtain clear back eyeshot, you can adjust your body to a comfortable driving position and grip the middle of 41 Parking radar equipped) system (if the parking radar sensor If there are obstacles behind your car, the parking radar system (if equipped) will send alarm signals to you via a radar sensor featuring an identification function when reversing at 5km/h speed or parking. This parking radar is an auxiliary safety device. 42 ○The parking radar system is an auxiliary system. You also need to carefully look around to make sure that there is no obstacle behind your carwhenreversing. ○The identifying range and alarm signals of this system may vary with differentkindsofobstacle. ○The parking radar will send different audio alarm signals depen -ding on the distance between your car and obstacles. If its sensor is covered with ice or dust or gets dirty, itmaysendwrongalarmsignals. ○If you are driving your car across grassland,orongraveled,bumpedor sloped roads, its sensor may send wrongalarmsignals. ○Avoid scraping or pushing the surface of its sensor. Or, it may damagethesensor. ○The sensor is not capable of identifying extremely small or thin articles, ropes, and sound-absorp -tionclothandsponge,etc. ○When there are two more obsta -cles, the sensor will first sense the nearestone. ○Whether the parking radar works or not will depend on its surrounding conditions. To avoid accidents when reversing, the driver need to determine that there is no obstacle behind your car in advance. ○We shall not be liable for any accident or damages due to malfunctions of the parking radar. Therefore, it is recommended that you carefully look around to make sure that there is no obstacle behind your car before reversing. ○The parking radar system is incapable of identifying obstacles too close to your car (less than 300mm). Working principle The parking radar system is designed to sense obstacles behind your car and measure an approximate distance between the obstacle and your car based on an ultrasonic distance measurement principle and a computer fuzzy processing technology. When shifting to reverse gear, the reverse switch is on. The reversing lamp comes on. Once receiving signals, the control will cause the ultrasonic sensor to send an ultrasonic signal. Once receiving an echo signal, the sensor will transmit it to the control for analysis and process. By analyzing and processing the echo signal, the control will judge whether there are any obstacles behind and the distance between the nearest obstacle and your car. When reversing, the parking radar will begin to work. The instant that the radar begins to work, it will conduct a fast self-test to ensure all components are in good condition. Then, move the seat forward or backward along the seat rail to your desired position. Last, release the adjuster and make sure the seat is locked. To determine the seat is firmly locked, you can mover the seat forward or backward without using the lock lever . 44 Your car is equipped with a manual adjusting lever to adjust your seat backrest inclination. The adjustment lever is located at the external side of seats. The adjustment procedure comes as below: 1. Lean your body forward or backward to adjust it to your satisfaction while raising the lever. 2. Release the lever and reset it. Make sure that the backrest is locked. ○To reduce possible collision risks or injury risks when stopping suddenly, the backrests of driver and passenger seats shall be kept vertical when driving. If the back -rest is kept tilted, the protection function of safety belts and airbags will decrease to a large extent. If the backrest is kept tilted, the driver and passengers may slide downward along safety belts when collision occurs. In other words, safety belts will not perform a full protection function with backrest tilted. ○Never try to adjust your seat when driving. Otherwise, it may lead to accidents or even injuries or death. Seat upward/downward adjustment (if equipped) Adjustable seat headrest Front seat Small button 1 2 Big button Seat upward/downward adjustment procedure: 1. Turn clockwise the button 1 at the left side of the seat to raise the front part of the mat and vice versa. 2. Turn counterclockwise the button 2 at the left side of the seat to raise the rear part of the mat and vice versa. Rear seat Small button Big button By adjusting the headrest height make its top as close as possible head, you can reduce the frequency neck injuries due to collision to to of or emergency braking. Its adjustment procedure comes as follows: Pull upward the headrest by hand and you will adjust its height to your desired position. By pressing down -ward the big button and the headrest by hand, you will lower your headrest to your desired position. Headrest removal procedure: First, pull upward the headrest. Then, press and hold small and big buttons at the left/right sides. Last, take off the headrest from the guide sleeves. Re-install and adjust your headrest to its original location before driving. Procedure of headrest forward / bac -kward adjustment: Pushing forward your headrest will tilt it forward. Re -pushing your headrest will unlock and return it to its original location. 45 Power seats (if equipped) Folding rear seat (if equipped) The backrests and mats of rear seats can be folded to gain a larger room for luggage storage. Their folding proce -dure comes as follows: 1. Fix the lock catch of rear seat safety belts. 2. Remove the headrest. 3.Press the button (There is one button at each external side of headrest) at the external side of the rear seat backrest. Then, fold the backrest forw -ard. 4.To return the rear seat backrest to its original status, you need to directly raise it. Then, you need to push it until a "click" sound comes showing it is locked. 46 Armrest between rear seats When necessary, you can pull out the armrest between rear seats. Rear seat armrest is equipped with cup holders. Adjustment procedure of power seats comes as follows: Push the adjustment button in a horizontally forward/backward direction of your car to move the seat forward/ backward. Pull upward or press downward the front part of the adjustment button to Adjustable steering column lift or lower the seat. Pull upward or press downward the rear part of the adjustment button to lift or lower the rear part of the seat Adjustment of power backrest inclination Manual waist rest (if equipped) Adjustment of steering position and height wheel Adjustable state seat Push forward or backward the power seat backrest adjustment switch to obtain a satisfactory inclination angle. Release the power seat adjustment switch when the seat is adjusted to a satisfactory position. Use the control lever at the external side of the driver seat backrest to adjust the driver seat waist rest. Turn counterclockwise the control lever to adjust the waist rest to the lower part of the seat. Turn clockwise the control lever to return the waist rest to its original location. 1. Open the lock handle at the lower steering column. 2. Raise or lower the steering wheel to your desired position. 3. Pull upward the lock handle to lock the steering wheel. Make sure that the steering wheel is fully fixed. The steering wheel must be face to your chest, not to your face. Make sure that you can see all instruments and indicator lamps on the instrument board. 47 Cigarette lighter Nevertrytoadjustthesteeringwheel when driving. Or, it may cause out-of-control troubles or severe injuriesorevendeath. the ashtray. Some vehicle models possess lighting function at the ashtray. When rotating the bucket switch at the end of the combination switch to a proper position, the lamp in the ashtray lights up. Rear seat ashtray (if equipped) Ashtray Front seat ashtray The front ashtray and ashtray are located at the lower part of the central instrument panel. Gently press the cover plate for the cigar lighter and ashtray to open it. In the case of cleaning, please open and take down 48 Never put flammables into the ashtray. No foot mat or rolling articles or slippery carpet with no anti-side functions shall be allowed to place around the pedals. If brake malfunctions occur, the brake pedal travel will get longer. The clutch and accelerator pedals must be always capable of being depressed to the floor. Make sure that all pedals can return to original position without any obstru -ction. Therefore, only foot mats with anti-slide functions and with pre-left grooves around the pedals shall be allowed. No foreign articles shall be allowed to be placed in legroom. Articles, if any, may slide into the brake pedal when an accident occurs or when the brake is suddenly applied. In such case, articles will hinder your operations of brake, clutch and accelerator pedals. 49 Glovebox The glovebox is located below the console in the front of the secondary driver seat. You need to pull its handle to open it. There shall be no articles on the console. Any article, if any, may be thrown into the passenger comp -artment when driving (e.g. accele -rating, turning). 50 Rear seat power socket (if equipped) wire to the cigarette lighter before using it. The other end of the wire will be connected to power supply. Never connect any electronic devices or accessories with a power requirement less or greater than 12V to the socket Your car is equipped with 12V power socket so that your can use various electronic products or charge them on-board easily. The rear seat power socket is located at the bottom of the rear central handrail If no power socket is equipped, the cigarette lighter can be used as a substitute of 12V power socket. Turn clockwise the knob to raise the temperature. Turn counterclockwise to reduce the temperature. You may adjust from a 22° C temperature to the satisfaction of human body. If there are old men or children in your car, it is suitable to adjust the temp -erature to about 25°C. Air output adjusting knob Automatic air conditioning system: Rotate this knob for the blower fan speed regulation from 1-8. Semi-automatic air conditioning system: rotate the knob clockwise for air output increase while rotate it counterclockwise for air output decrease. When rotate it to OFF position, the blower is turned off. Automatic air conditioning system button Press this button to turn on the automatic air conditioning system. The system will set the temperature automatically according to the ambient temperature and adjust the air output of the blower automatically. A/C Compressor button A/C Automatic air conditioning system: press the A/C compressor button (A/C) to turn on or turn off the air conditioning system. Semi-automatic air conditioning system: Rotate the air output adjusting knob to 1 or above, press the A/C compressor button (A/C) to turn on or turn off the air conditioning system. Please confirm A/C button is located at OFF position in the case of heating so as to reduce energy consumption. Front windscreen defroster (fog) button 1. Press the button to switch to the defroster mode. 2. Press the button to switch to an external recirculation airflow control mode. 3. Press the button to forcefully start the compressor. Internal and external circulation control button Automatic air conditioning system: Press the internal circulation or external circulation control button, corresponding LED lights up. Thus, air inlet mode of the A/C is internal air intake mode or external air intake mode. Semi-automatic air conditioning system: when the indicator lamp on the button lights up, it is internal circulation mode at the moment. Air in the vehicle is blown into the vehicle once again through the A/C system and this may prevent external air and peculiar smell from getting in and increasing or decreasing the interior air temperature faster. When the indicator lamp on the button goes out, the A/C is in external circulation mode and air comes from exterior at the moment. Long-time application of the internal circulation mode will increase fog on the glazing surface and air in the vehicle will be dry extremely. OFF button OFF Press this button to turn off the A/C system. 53 Rear windshield defrosting (defogging) button Press this button to enable or disable the rear windshield defroster (defogger). When the indicator lamp on the button is lighting up, it is indicated that this function is activated. The rear windshield defroster (defogger) adopts heating grilles for defrosting and defogging. Prior to activating this function, you should remove accumulated snow on the rear windshield as much as possible. Press this button, the rear windshield defroster (defogger) will be turned off automatically after about 20 min. Besides, you can press this button once again or shut down the engine to turn off the defroster (defogger). Turn off the heating device when there is no frosting on the rear windshield for this may be helpful to 54 reducing power consumption so as to reduce fuel consumption. It is an eco-friendly driving habit. Air outlet mode button (knob) The air outlet mode button (knob) is applied to air flow direction control. There are five air output modes as face, foot, face and foot, foot and defrosting (defogging) as well as defrosting (defogging) position. Correct shutdown of automatic A/C: adjust the temperature knob, set the temperature to LOW and then turn off the A/C control panel. After that, press the internal/external circulation button, the indicator lamp on the internal/external circulation function key lights up. The AM-FM antenna of the Audio System is mounted on the front or rear windshield. Make sure that the lattice on windshields is not damaged. Or, it may affect the signal receiving function of the radio. ○At regular intervals replace the AC filter as specified in Warranty & Maintenance Manual of JAC B-CLASS Passenger Car. In the environment where there is a severe polluted atmosphere or the road condition is poor, you need to more frequently check the AC filter. ○If air flow entering your car reduces suddenly, promptly drive to the JAC authorized after-service centers for checking. 55 Ignition switch and "ACC" If the ignition key is at the ACC position, the on-board audio system, cigarette lighter and DC power supply will be put into use. It is not recommended to use the battery until the engine is started, in order to prevent excessive discharge of the battery. The ignition switch is located at the right side the steering column and below the steering wheel. It has 4 positions as follows: "LOCK" The ignition key will not be inserted or pulled out until the switch turns to LOCK.Whenparkingandlockingyour car, you need to slightly press and turn counterclockwise the key. Then, pull out th e key from the LOCK position. In such case, the steering wheel is locked to prevent theft. "ON" When the ignition key is at the ON position, the indicator lamp on the instrument board will come on for test. At the same time, all components and components are ready for work. The ignition key shall be kept at the ON position when driving. If the engine is not started, never keep the ignition key at the "ON "position. It will lead to spontaneously discharge, which may damage the ignition system and make the excessive discharge of the battery. Ignition function 56 switch position "START" The START is the engine starting position. Turn the ignition key to the START position to start the engine. When the engine is started, you need to release the ignition key. The ignition switch will return to the ON position. If the ignition key inserted into the LOCKpositioncannotbeturned,youneed to slightly turn the steering wheel. The cause for this problem may be that the steeringwheellockisactivated. Engine start Notices before starting the engine For the vehicle equipped with manual transmission, the gearshift lever shall be shifted to the neutral position before starting the engine. For the vehicle equipped with manual transmission, it is recommended that you apply the clutch pedal when starting the engine. After the engine is started, you need to release the ignition key to let the ignition switch return from the START to the ON position. Never keep the engine and the starter running simultaneously. When in a cold environment, the engine started will produce a strong operation noise for a short time. That is because it is necessary to build a fuel pressure during the adjustment of hydraulic valve clearance. In such case, producing the above noise is normal. Do not keep the engine running for a long time under the parking mode. Drive your car as soon as possible. Avoid a high rotational speed or sudden acceleration before the engine temperature reaches its rated value. For car models equipped with a catalytic converter, it's disallowed to start the engine by towing the vehicle for more than 50m in distance. Or, the fuel not fully burned may enter into the catalyticconverteranddamageit. Before starting the engine with towing method, you need to use batteries of other vehicles to help you start the engine as much as possible. See the Page 135 "Emergency Start" of this manual for details. Never keep the engine running in an enclosed room or poorly vent -ilated space. The odorless carbon monoxide exhausted by your car may cause toxic accidents or ever death. When the engine is turned off, the radiator fan may remain rotating for a period of time (even after the ignition switch is turned off). The rotation may last for up to 10 minutes. 57 Keyless starting system (if equipped) Function of the keyless starting system lies in starting the engine via direct rotating the knob on the ignition switch without inserting the key when the vehicle is in the unlocking condition for the anti-theft system and the intelligent key is in the sensing area inside the vehicle. LOCK The position is applied to engine flameout and steering wheel lock-up. 58 ACC When the knob is located at this position, the audio system, cigar lighter and vehicle-mounted direct current (DC) power supply are available. It is not recommended to use the above electrical accessories when it is not started to avoid battery under voltage. ON When the knob is rotated to this position, corresponding indicator lamp on the instrument panel will light up and get ready for inspections. At the same time, all equipments and components on the vehicle are stand-by. If the engine is not started, do not maintain the knob at "ON" position for a long time for this may lead to self discharge, ignition system damage and even battery under voltage. START This position is applied to engine ignition only. Rotate the knob to this position for engine start. After starting the engine, release the knob and it returns to "ON" position automatically. Engine start-up procedures 1. Open a vehicle door with the intelligent key and then take the key into the vehicle. 2. Depress the brake pedal and make sure to maintain the shift handle at P gear position or neutral position. 3. Ensure the intelligent key is in the effective range. Press down the ignition knob on the ignition switch and rotate it clockwise. 4. When the ignition knob is rotated to "ON" position, make sure that indicator lamps on the instrument panel can light up or go out normally. 5. Rotate the ignition knob to "START" position and release the knob after engine start. ○ If the intelligent key is not in the sensing area inside the vehicle, press the knob, the buzzer will produce a long beeping and the intelligent key position indicator lamp will flash. If the knob is not pressed down within 10s, the intelligent key indicator lamp goes out after 10s. ○ Position for the intelligent key applied to interior vehicle start-up: areas within the range of the cab but exclusive of edge of the instrument desk, edge of left and right seats, the hat stand, edge of the door leaf and the area behind the rear seat back. ○ If the intelligent key is placed in a metal box, it is failed to start the engine, either. ○ Please take the intelligent key with you after leaving the vehicle. ○ During the process of vehicle start-up, the intelligent key may be interfered by some electromagnetic signals and there will be engine start failure. At the moment, adjust the key position or direction properly for normal start. ○ After starting the engine, do not rotate the knob to "START" position or the starter will be damaged. ○ In the case of engine flameout during vehicle running, the power steering system will disable. You should apply a large force in steering wheel operating. Meanwhile, the brake auxiliary system will disable and you should apply a larger force in brake pedal operating. ○ Radio waves may interfere electronic medical devices. For people with electronic medical devices in their bodies, please consult medical device manufacturers for information concerned interference prior to using this system. ○ During vehicle running, do not rotate the knob on the ignition switch to "LOCK" position or the steering wheel will be locked and the vehicle will be out of control. 59 Intelligent key failure If the intelligent key disables, you can start the engine with the following procedures: 1. Slide the release button at the end of the intelligent key, gently pull the key ring and take out the short mechanical key which is hidden in the intelligent key. 2. Open the driver's side door with the short mechanical key. 3. Press round buttons at both sides of the ignition switch simultaneously and take down the key lid on the ignition switch knob. 4. Insert the short mechanical key, rotate it to "ON" position and maintain it at that position for 30s in order to disable the anti-theft system. 5. Start the engine. 60 ○ Please protect the short mechanical key against key duplication which may lead to illegal starting of your vehicle. ○ In emergencies, if the intelligent key disables, please use the mechanical key for vehicle start-up. Steering wheel lock-up and unlocking Lock-up: Rotate the ignition switch knob to "LOCK" position, release the knob and the steering wheel is locked up. Unlocking: When the intelligent key is in the sensing range, press the ignition switch knob to unlock the steering wheel. ○ When the ignition switch knob is located at "ON" or "ACC" position, open the driver's side door, the buzzer will product a long beeping and the steering system lock-up indicator lamp will flash to remind the user of rotating the ignition switch knob to "LOCK" position so as to lock up the steering system. ○ After hearing the warning sound and seeing flashing of the steering system lock-up indicator lamp, if the driver's side door is closed or the ignition switch knob is rotated to "LOCK" position, the buzzer stops beeping and the steering system lock-up indicator lamp stops flashing. Transmission 5-speed manual transmission 1 3 5 2 4 R The arrangement of 5 gears is on the gearshift lever head of the manual transmission. Description: 1. You need to shift to the reverse gear "R" at least 3s after your car stops. When driving, shifting to R will dam -age the transmission. 2. In a cold environment and before the transmission oil temperature rises, it is normal that gear-shifting is a little difficult. In such case, it will not damage the transmission. 3. If you have difficulty in shifting gears some times, you need to first shift to Neutral and release the clutch pedal. Then, apply the clutch pedal. Last, shift to D1 or R. 4. Never use the gearshift lever as an armrest. Or, it will cause an early wear of the transmission shift fork. Gearshift operation During gear shifting, make sure that the engine rotating speed matches the traveling speed of your car. A proper and correct gear shifting will help save fuel and extend the engine service life. When shifting from D5 to D4, cautions shall be taken to prevent shifting to D2 by accident. In such case, the engine speed will get far too high and the pointer of tachometer will point to the red zone. This misoperation may cau -se the damage of engine. 61 Tips for models with manual tran -smission Never shift to Neutral when sliding along a downslope. It may be very hazardous. Never keep pressing the brake pedal. Or, it may cause an overheat brake and poor braking function. When sliding from a downslope from top, you need to reduce the speed and shift to a lower gear. In such case, you can use the engine braking to help reduce car speed. Reducing the speed of your car before shifting to a lower gear will help avoid a damaged engine due to overheat. Make sure that your car is still before shifting to R. Or, it may cause damage to the transmission. First, depress the clutch pedal. Then, shift the gearshift lever to Neutral and wait for 3s. Last, shift to R. During driving on a smooth road, be 62 careful especially when carrying out braking, acceleration or gear shifting. The engine speed may vary suddenly when driving on a smooth road. The sudden engine speed change will make wheels slip and loss of traction, thus getting difficult to control your car. Automatic transmission (if equipped) Unlock botton Shift handle Clutch operation Depress the clutch pedal to the floor before gear shifting and then release it slowly. Never place your foot on the clutch pedal when driving. Or, it may cause an unexpected clutch wear. Do not rest your foot on the clutch pedal when driving on slope. Or, it may accelerate the clutch wear or cause ablation of clutch. Transmission gear position When the ignition switch is rotated to "ON" position, the gear display lamp on the instrument panel indicates the position for the shift handle. P (Parking gear) Prior to shifting into P (Parking gear), it is necessary to stop the vehicle completely. In the case of engagement of this gear, front wheels will be locked up so as to prevent front wheels from rotating. P (Parking gear) position is the optimal gear position for engine start. Before starting the engine, please verify whether the shift handle is located at this gear position. For shifting out of this gear, you should remove your foot from the accelerator pedal, depress the brake pedal fiercely and press the release button at the side of the shift handle simultaneously. For shifting out of this gear, you should remove your foot from the accelerator pedal, depress the brake pedal fiercely and press the release button at the side of the shift handle simultaneously. After the completion of above operations, if the shift handle is still failed to shift out of the parking gear, please refer to "Unlocking of Shift Lock" on Page 64. ○ It is dangerous to get off when the parking handle is tightly pulled but the shift handle is not shift into the parking gear for the vehicle may move suddenly and lead to injuries to you and others. Even though the road surface is flat, it is necessary to pull up the parking handle tightly and place the shift handle at the parking gear (P) to avoid vehicle movement. ○ If the shift handle is moved to p (Parking gear) position during vehicle running, drive wheels will be locked and this will lead to transmission damage and vehicle out of control. R (Reverse gear) Apply the gear position when reversing. When it is required to shift from the neutral position to reverse gear position, implement gear shifting when the vehicle stops completely. Prior to shifting from the neutral position to reverse gear position, it is necessary to press the release button. ○ Before shifting into R (Reverse gear) or shifting out of R (reverse gear) position, it is necessary to stop the vehicle completely. ○ Shift into the R (Reverse gear) during vehicle running will damage the transmission and damage due to such misoperation are not include in the guarantee coverage. 63 N (Neutral gear) When locating at this position, wheels and transmission are disengaged. When it is required to restart the shutdown engine or keep the engine idling for temporary parking, the neutral gear position is applicable. No matter what is the reason for leaving the vehicle, you should shift the handle into parking gear position. When shifting the shift handle from the neutral position to other gear positions, it is recommended to depress the brake pedal. Besides, in the case of vehicle towing, it is necessary to shift into the neutral gear position. 64 completely, the transmission will shift into low gear automatically. It is very dangerous to shift into D (Driving gear) when the engine is running at a high speed and the transmission is located at neutral gear position. The vehicle will move fast and even lose its control and knock over people or obstacles unless the brake pedal is depressed completely. D (Driving gear) In general, this gear position is applied to driving. The transmission will automatically select proper gear position according to vehicle speed and acceleration. For additional power in overtaking or climbing, please depress the accelerator pedal completely. When the accelerator pedal is depressed Torque lock-up When parking on an abrupt slope, vehicle weight will produce an excessive force on the parking pawl in the transmission. Thus, it will be very difficult to shift the shift handle out of the P (Parking gear) position and this is called "torque lock-up". To prevent torque lock-up, it is necessary to tightly pull up the parking handle and then correctly move the shift handle to P (Parking gear) position before leaving the vehicle. In the case of torque lock-up, it is necessary to slightly tow the vehicle with another one along the direction of the supper side of the slope for removing the component applied force on the transmission parking pawl so as to separate the shift handle from the P (Parking gear) position. Change-over between manual and automatic mode The automatic transmission can realize change-over between manual mode and automatic mode. When it is displayed in the instrument panel as "D", it is in automatic mode; when the shift handle is located at D (Driving gear) position, push the shift handle rightward to enable the manual mode (push it upward for shift up while push it downward for shift down). At the moment, the gear display in the instrument panel is "1, 2, 3 and 4". Driving of automatic transmission (AT) vehicles 1. Ensure that the driver and passengers fasten their seatbelts. 2. Ensure that the driver's seat and rear-view mirror are in proper positions and carry out adjustment if necessary. 3. Ensure that the shift handle is located at P (Parking gear) position. 4. Release the accelerator pedal, rotate the ignition switch to START position and release the switch after starting the engine. If the engine is failed to start, wait for 10s and restart it. 5. Keep the engine idling for more than 30s. 6. Release the parking handle. 7. Move the shift handle to proper gear position, depress the accelerator pedal slowly so as to realize vehicle forward running or reversing. ○ Start the engine only when the shift handle is located at P (Parking gear) position or N (Neutral gear) position. ○ Although the engine can start at N (Neutral gear) position, it is recommended start the engine at this position only when normal start is unavailable. ○ Do not drive the vehicle at a high speed before the engine reaching the normal operating temperature. ○ Do not slide with the neutral gear engaged. Leaving the vehicle during engine operating It is very dangerous to leave the vehicle with the engine running. If the parking handle is tightly pulled but the shift handle is not shifted into P (Parking gear) position, the vehicle may move suddenly. Besides, if you leave the vehicle without shutting down the engine, there will be engine overheating which may lead to fire hazard. If it is inevitable to leave the vehicle for a short while with the engine 65 Brake system operating, please confirm that the parking handle is tightly pulled and the shift handle is located at P (Parking gear) position at the same time. Unlocking of shift lock When it is failed to shift the shift handle out of the parking gear position with conventional method (like depressing the brake pedal and pressing the release button), operate with the method as follows: 1. Shut down the engine, tightly pull up the parking handle. 2. Take out the mechanical key. 3. Carefully prize up unlocking slot cover for the shift lock at the side of the shift handle with a small flat head screwdriver or other tools. 4. Insert the key or the screwdriver into the unlocking slot of the shift lock and keep pressing it downward. 5. Press the release button on the shift 66 Unlocking slot for shift lock All components of the brake system are critical to your driving safety. Please, strictly comply with our maintenance standard and drive your car to the JAC authorized after-service centers for a regular checking of the brake system. Service brake handle and simultaneously move the shift handle from P (Parking gear) position to neutral gear position. 6. Pull out the key from the unlocking slot of the shift lock and reinstall the cover and make sure that the concave part of the cover is located at proper place. Depress the brake pedal and restart the engine. The brake booster will assist you in applying the brake with less depre -ssing force. The ABS system will be helpful to your steering control under the emergency braking. The service brake system is designed to contain a dual-line structure. When one line is damaged, the other can still function normally. You need to apply a relatively large force to the brake pedal only when it is difficult to carry out the braking operation in a short distance with one line working. Unless under special situation, you need to stop your car in a safer place and wait for help from the JAC authorized after-service centers. If the brake system alarm lamp comes on, it means that your car is short of brake fluid. If the lamp remains on after adding brake fluid, immediately drive to the JAC authorized after -service centers for checking and repair. If in such case your car can not be drived normally, you need to get your car to the JAC authorized after-service centers by using a trailer or other safe methods. Parking brake If there are malfunctions in the brake system or if you think that there are malfunctions in the brake system, immediately contact the JAC authorized after-service ce -nters for checking. It is very hazardous to drive a car with malfu -nctions in its brake system. It may cause severe accidents or even death. The parking brake operation can be made possible by using the parking brake lever. When parking your car, you need only to pull upward the lever tightly. Never use safety belts for other purposes or make them damaged by vehicle doors or seat hinges. 71 Safety belt height adjuster The height of front seat safety belts can be adjusted by using the fixing bracket. Safety belts must pass across your stomach, chest and shoulders instead of your neck. Any seat safety belt too close to your neck will not provide you an effective safety protection. To adjust the height of the seat to which the safety belt is fixed, press and hold the adjusting button, lift or lower the fixing bracket to an appropriate position, and release the button and slide upward and downw -ard to make sure that it is locked. 72 Buckle 3-point safety belts First, draw out the safety belt from the roll-up box. Next, buckle its metal end into the catch until a "click" sound is heard. Last, adjust the waist segment of the safety belt. The safety belt will automatically stretch to fit your hip. When you slowly lean or move forward, the safety belt will autom -atically stretch out. If a sudden or strong collision occurs, the safety belt will automatically be locked to hold your body. When you fast lean forward, the safety belt will also automatically hold your body firmly. Adjustment 3-point safety belts Unbuckle 3-point safety belts 2-point static safety belt You need to pull the safety belt downward as much as possible to make it pass your hip instead of your waist. If the safety belt passes across the upper part of your body, you may slide out from the bottom during an accident or emergency braking. That may cause severe body injuries or even death. To release the safety belt, hold the catch support and press the release button. When the safety belt is loosened, it will be automatically drawn back into the roll-up box. Once a severe collision occurs, the pre-tensioners and airbags of front seats will simultaneously provide passengers safety protection. 74 The working principle of the pretensi -oner is the same as that of an emergency lock telescopic device. In an emergency braking situation, the telescopic device of the safety belt will enter the lock mode. While in a collision, the safety belt pre-tensioner will pull passengers in the direction opposite to that of the collision. That will hold passengers firmly on their seats. The safety belt pre-tensioner is an integral part of the SRS system. Description: When triggering the safety belt pre-tensioner, a small explosion sound will be heard. That is normal and not hazardous. The safety belt pre-tensioner is a one-time device designed only against severe collision accidents. If the safety belt pre-tensioner is triggered, do not try to replace it by yourself. Contact the JAC authori -zed after-service centers. Children & Pregnant women protection Infant protection Some countries require using the qualified child protection devices for infants and children. It is strongly recommended that you use protection devices or safety seats for infants with a weight equal to or less than 18kg. Airbags are designed to protect adult passengers during an accident. They are hazardous to children during an accident. Never install child protection devices on the secondary driver seat equipped with an airbag. Or, a huge impact force due to airbag inflation may cause injuries or even death to infants. Always make sure before the purchase that the child protection system for your children is suitable for children's stature, vehicle seats and safety belts. Children safety seats must be installed following the manual provided by their manufacturer. Older children protection For older children for whom infant safety seats are not suitable, they must wear seat safety belts. Older children had better use rear seats and wear seat safety belts. If having to use front seats, older children (aged 13 and above) must wear seat safety belts and move the seat backward as much as possible. Only when airbags and safety belts simultaneously work can passengers obtain maximum safety protection. ○Airbags will be inflated only when a serious frontal collision occurs. Airbags will not work when a side or rear collision happens or when a roll-over occurs. Airbags are one-time devices and must not be re-used. SRS components and functions The supplemental restraint system (SRS) includes the following components: -Airbagmodule(main/auxiliarymodules) -Safety belt pre-tensioner -SRS control members (SRSCM) -SRS airbag alarm lamp (SRI) When the ignition switch turns to "ON", SRSCM will continuously monitor possible frontal collisions and decide whether it is necessary to trigger airbags. When the ignition key turns to "ON", or the engine is started, the SRS indicator lamp (SRI) on the instrument board will flash 6s and then go out. When SRSCM senses a strong frontal collision, it will activate airbags to automatically inflate. Fully inflated airbags and proper safety belts will slow and hold the forward movement of the driver and passengers. That will help prevent head or chest from getting huge injured. After fully inflated, airbags will soon shrink to provide the driver broad front eyeshot. How does SRS work? When a strong frontal collision occurs, SRS will sense the sharp vehicle deceleration. In such case, it will promptly activate and inflate airbags. At the same time, it will also activate the seat safety belt pre-tensioner. When a strong frontal collision occurs, seat safety belts will help fix passengers' lower body. Airbags will absorb energy from the collision to protect passengers' chest and head. SRS maintenance SRS is essentially a maintenance-free system. If SRS fails to work normally, drive your car to the JAC authorized after-service centers for repair. The cleaner containing solvent may corrode the materials of the compon -ents. ○Never use a cleaner containing solvent to clean the instrument board and the surface of airbag module. ○A cleaner with solvent will produce penetration, thus loosening the surface. When the airbag is triggered, its loosened parts may cause human injuries. Trim materials and textile fabrics For cleaning of trim materials and textile fabrics of car doors, trunk and roof, a special cleaner/dry foam and soft brush shall be used. Leather seat (if equipped) Do not expose your leather seats to the sunshine for a long time. Or, it may cause leather to fade. Under no circumstances can you use solvent, floor wax, shoe polish, detergent or similar products to deal with leather seats. To avoid damage, have stubborn stains removed by the JAC authorized after-service centers. It is recommended that you maintain your leather seats using a leather maintenance agent every six months. Clean the surfaces of leather seats using a piece of wet cloth. If it is too dirty, use a soft soap solution. Cautions shall be taken to prevent water from penetrating through stitches. Wipe dry leather seats using a piece of soft cloth after cleaning. Safety belt Keep safety belts clean. If safety belts get too dirty, their function will be impaired. Use a soft soap solution to clean dirty safety belts. Never try to remove safety belts from your car. Automatic safety belts shall not be rolled up until they get fully dry. ○Never try to remove safety belts for cleaning. ○Never use a chemical cleaner to clean safety belts. That is because chemical cleaners will damage fabrics. Keep safety belts away from corrosive solutions. ○Check safety belts regularly. If there is damage to fabrics, connectors, automatic rolling-up devices or locks of safety belts, immediately contact the JAC authorized after-service centers for replacement. 111 Rust prevention maintenance To prevent getting rusted, we have integrated advanced design and technical craftsmanship into your car. Still, the measures we have taken for your car are limited. To prevent your car from getting rusted for a long period, your cooperation and assist -ance are necessary. Common causes for rusting Salt, dirt and water accumulated on your car chassis for a long time may cause rust. Under conditions where car body paint is scraped off, where protection coating is worn by stone, sand or gravel, or where metal is exposed due to small friction or dents, the rust will take place. 112 Rust-prone zones Rust prevention measures If you live in an area where there are many factors causing vehicle rust, it is of extreme importance to take some countermeasures. The common facto -rs to expedite the rusting include salt on roads, dust, chemicals, marine air and industrial pollutants. 1. Keep your car clean The best way to prevent car rust is to keep your car clean and remove any materials causing car to rust. It is very important to keep your car chassis clean. If you live in an area where there are many factors including road salt, offshore surroundings, industrial pollut -ion and acid rain which may cause vehicle rust, some rust prevention measures shall be taken. In winter, you need to clean your car bottom once a month. When the winter is over, you also need to clean your car bottom completely. When washing your car, you shall attach importance to components at the bottom of fenders. These compo -nents are hard to be observed from outside. Clean stains on them completely. Rusting may be stepped up instead of being slowed down if you only wet accumulated mud on these components instead of thoroughly cleaning them. It is efficient to remove accumulated mud and rusted materials using water and steam under high pressure. To facilitate discharging moisture and prevent interior rust, you need to keep drains of door panels and frame rails open when washing lower door panels. 2. Keep your garage dry Do not park your car in a poorly -ventilated and moisture garage. In this case, rust may take place faster. If your wash your car in your garage or if you drive your car with moisture, snow, ice or mud into your garage, your car and relevant parts will certainly get rusted, unless your garage is well ventilated for complete dehumidification. 4. Interior maintenance Moisture accumulated on your car floor or below carpet may cause rust. Check your car carpet regularly to make sure that it is dry. Special care shall be taken to transport fertilizer, cleaning materials or chemicals with your car. If you have to transport the above materials or chemicals, use appropriate containers. Once these materials or chemicals splash from containers, you shall thoroughly flush polluted zones with water and then dry them. 3. Keep car paint and trims in good condition Scratches or metal-exposed edges shall be coated with a layer of finishing coat to reduce a possibility of getting rusted. Battery 114 Engine compartment cleaning and corrosion prevention ○Read carefully all details of this chapter before repairing and maintaining components of the engine compartment: ○To ensure operational safety, pull out the ignition key before contacting the water trap. This is to prevent human injuries by a working wiper switched on accidentally. Remove leaves and foreign materials in the water trap in time. The purpose is to prevent water outlet from getting blocked and foreign materials from entering your car through the AC and ventilation system. The external surfaces of the engine compartment and powertrain have undergone rust prevention treatment before leaving our factory. If you plan to scatter salt to avoid freezing in winter, the engine compartment and water trap shall firstly be thoroughly cleaned and then undergo rust prevention treatment, in order to prevent rust caused by salt. Turn off the ignition switch before cleaning the engine. Do not direct water flow to front headlamps. If you have ever cleaned the engine or its bay using a grease solvent, the corrosion prevention layer of the engine must have been removed. In this case, all surfaces, recesses, connectors and assemblies in the engine compartment shall undergo corrosion prevention treatment to prevent them from getting corroded for a long period. Such requirement also applies to replacement of components with requirement of corrosion prevention treatment. As the mixture among residual petrol, grease and engine oil bleeding when cleaning the engine needs to be dealt with via an oil-water separator, it is recommended to have the engine cleaned in our after-service centers or relevant qualified service providers. The JAC authorized after-service centers provide the JAC recomm -ended cleaners, preservatives and are equipped with necessary equipm -ent .It may cause scalds, other body injuries, accidents or firs when carrying out some works, including check and adding hydraulic fluids, on the engine or in the engine compartment. Never mix different kinds of fluids added. Otherwise, it may cause severe malfunctions. 115 To detect leaks in time, frequently check the ground beneath your car. If there are stains of engine oil or other fluids, immediately contact the JAC authorized after-service centers for checking. Special cautions shall be taken when working in the engine compartment. If there is steam escaping or coolant overflowing, do not open the engine cover or deal with the engine to avoid scalds. You should not work until there is no steam escaping or coolant overflowing and the engine gets cool. 116 Check engine oil Oil selection Depending on outdoor temperature, select the engine oil meeting the SAE viscosity requirements. Recommended oil viscosity values come as follows: ○The SAE5W20 is not recomm -ended for the carts to be driven on an expressway for a long time. ○The engine oil quality shall meet the API Standard, with classifica -tion standard at grade SJ and above. Check engine oil level Oil lipstick Normally, the engine will consume engine oil. According to the national standards, the fuel consumption of the engine oil ratio in the range of 0.3% is to meet the requirements.Therefore, it's necessary to check the oil level periodically, preferably before filling fuel and starting out on a long travel each time. Measure the oil level to obtain an accurate value after the oil gets cool. See the engine compartment diagram for information about dipstick position. You first need to stop your car in a horizontal position before measuring the oil level. Turn off the engine. Wait a few minutes until all oil returns to the oil pan. Then, pull out the lipstick. Wipe it dry using a clean cloth. Re-insert it into its original position. Last, re-pull out the lipstick and read the oil level measured The oil level shall be between the scales F and E of the lipstick. If the oil level is lower than E, you need to add oil until the oil level lies within its normal range. In other words, the oil level shall lie between the two scales of the lipstick. Always follow relevant instruc -tions when dealing with the engine or work in the engine compartment. Add engine oil Oil filler When the oil level is near or lower than E, you need to add oil in time. The oil level is in no case higher than F. Or, oil will be sucked out through the crankcase vent and will be discharged through the exhaust system into atmosphere. The oil may be burned in the catalytic converter and cause damage to it. 117 Check engine coolant level Engine coolant reservoir Make sure that the engine temper -ature is the same as the ambient temperature when measuring the coolant level. If the coolant level reduces to or below L, you need to add an appropriate amount of coolant until the level reaches its normal position. Do not add too much coolant. In general, the coolant level shall be between the two scales L (low) and F (full). The cooling system is an enclosed 118 system. Coolant loss is small. If the coolant level is far too low, it indicates that there are leaks. In this case, contact the JAC authorized after -service centers for help. ○If you open the cover of the coolant expansion pot or radiator when the engine and radiator are hot, steam or hot fluid may spray out and cause severe scalds. Never open the cover of the coolant expansion pot or radiator when the engine and radiator are hot. ○Use the anti-freeze with the same brand. Different brands of anti-freeze come different in formula. Once different brands of anti-freeze are mixed, there may be chemical reactions between their additives. That will change chemical properties of their additi -ves. Recommended engine coolant The engine coolant consists of water and additives. Not all additives available on markets are suitable for your car. Always use the coolant suitable for your car engine, or it will damage the engine. Coolant additives are hazar -dous to your health. It is recommended that you buy the coolant recommended by the JAC authorized after-service centers. Add or replace the coolant based on parameters listed in the following table: ambient concentration of engine coolant temperature℃(F) coolant water -15(5) 35% 65% -25(-13) 40% 60% -35(-31) 50% 50% -45(49) 60% 40% Replace coolant Follow the Warranty & Maintenance Manual of JAC J5 Passenger Car when replacing the coolant. The procedure to replace the coolant comes as below: 1. Park your car in a horizontal position. Lift the parking brake lever. Remove the radiator cap when the engine gets cool. 2. Place a vessel collecting the coolant. Open the water valve of the radiator. Drain the engine coolant. 3. Add an appropriate amount of coolant into the radiator following relevant instructions on the engine coolant box. 4. Turn the radiator cap counterclock -wise to the specified torque. This will help reduce the pressure in the cooling system. Take off the radiator cap. Add softened or distilled water until the level reaches the radiator opening. 5. Cover the radiator cap. Check if the 119 water pump is fully closed and if there are leaks. If the engine coolant splashes onto your car, wash it away using clean water. The engine coolant is corrosive and thus may damage the surface luster of your car. 120 Check and replace air filter The engine cooling fan is controlled by its coolant temperature. There -fore, it is normal that the cooling fan is still working even after the engine is turned off. Special cautio -ns shall be taken when working around the fan blades to avoid body injuries. Normally, the cooling fan will automatically stop working wh -en the engine gets cooled. Air filter The procedure to replace the air filter comes as follows: 1. Open the engine hood. 2. Remove clamps at the intake duct. 3. Replace the old filter with a new one 4. Install the new air filter in procedure opposite to that of removal Check brake fluid level Brake fluid reservoi Check the brake fluid in the reservoir at regular intervals. The brake fluid level must be kept between the scales MAX (maximum) and MIN (minimum). The brake fluid level will slightly lower due to wear and the automatic adjustment of brake friction plate during driving. This phenomenon is normal. If the brake fluid level in the reservoir rapidly lowers in a short time to even below MIN, it indicates that there is something wrong with the brake system seals. If the level of brake fluid in the reservoir is far too low, the brake system alarm lamp will come on. In such case, you need to immediately contact the JAC authorized after -service centers for an overhaul of the brake system. Due to the technical factors, the special tools and relevant technical know-how are needed for the replacement of the brake fluid. It is therefore strongly recommended to have the brake fluid replaced by the JAC authorized after-service centers. Replace brake fluid As the brake fluid can absorb water, it will therefore absorb more and more water from the atmosphere following the time passing by. The brake fluid with large water content will cause the brake system to get corroded. In addition, the brake fluid boiling point will rapidly fall. Therefore, it's necessary to replace the brake fluid at regular intervals. At the replacement of brake fluid, only use the new, unused and genuine JAC brake fluid (Contact the JAC authorized after-service centers for details) 121 Battery ○Since the brake system is critical to your driving safety, it is recommended that you drive your car at regular intervals to the JAC authorized after-service centers to check the brake system for wear. ○Care shall be taken to add the brake fluid. Any splash of the brake fluid into your eyes will weaken your sight. If the brake fluid splashes onto your car, immediately wipe it off. Or, it may cause damage to your car body paint. ○To prevent the brake fluid from splashing onto the engine, you should not add too much fluid. That is because any splash onto the engine will catch fire if the engine temperature is high enough. It thus may cause body injuries or damage to your car. 122 Your car is equipped with a mainte -nancefree battery. If replacement is necessary, the part number on the label of the new battery shall be the same as that of the old one. Determine the location of the battery with reference to the Engine compartment Diagram. ○Put on goggles and gloves before opening the battery. Prev -ent acidic or leaded particles from falling onto your eyes, skin or clothes. ○Do not turn over the battery. Or, acid liquid may bleed from the vent. If splashing into your eyes by accident, immediately flush with clean water and call for medical treatment. If splashing onto your skin or clothes by accident, immediately neutralize it with soap solution. Flush with plenty of clean water. If being swallowed by accident, call for medical treatment. ○Never deal with the battery around fire, electric spark, and high light. No smoking is allowed. Measures shall be taken to prevent electric sparks from occu -rring when dealing with cables and electric appliances or when discharging static electricity. Nev -er short-circuit the battery. Or, it may produce plenty of electric sparks hazardous to your body. ○The battery will produce an explosive gas mixture when being charged. Keep children away from the battery and acid. ○Before replacing electrical equipment, stop the engine, turn off the ignition switch and all electric devices, and disconnect the battery cathode. Before replacing bulbs, you only need to turn off lights. ○Before taking off the battery, you first need to remove its cathode cable before removing the anode cable. ○Switch off all electrical equipm -ent before re-connecting the battery. You need to connect the anode cable before connecting the cathode cable. Never mix the negative and anode cables. Or, it may cause a fire. ○Do not disconnect the battery when the ignition switch is on or when the engine is running. Or, it may damage electrical equipment (electronic kits). To prevent the battery housing from getting dama -ged by ultraviolet, do not expose the battery in the sunshine. Battery storage and maintenance If you do not plan to use your car in more than 3 weeks, disconnect the battery cathode cable. That can avoid discharging. Handle with care when repairing and assembling the battery to avoid its acid leaks or explosion accidents. Check if the battery has been charged before assembling. To extend the battery service life, follow the precautions below: -Keep the top surface of the battery clean and dry. -Keep terminals and connectors clean and firm. Rub Vaseline or grease onto terminals. -Immediately flush electrolyte splash es (if any) with bicarbonate solution -If you plan to leave your car in your garage for a long time, disconnect the cathode cable of the battery. In addition, you need to charge the 123 battery every 6 weeks. Clean the battery terminals. Please clean the battery terminals as per the procedure below: 1. Turn off the ignition switch and pull out the key. 2. Loosen and remove the battery cable clamps with a wrench. Make sure to first disconnect the battery cathode cable. 3. Clean the battery terminals with a steel wire brush or appropriate tools. 4. Check the battery terminals for white or light-blue powder. If any, it indicates that the terminals have gotten corroded. 5. Clean the corroded residues with bicarbonate solution. The bicarbonate solution will produce foam and turn brown. 6. When it stops forming foam, you need to wash the solution away with 124 clean water. After that, wipe dry the battery using a piece of cloth or paper. 7. Re-connect and fix the battery anode terminal (+) and cathode terminal (-) in sequence. Check spark plug Regularly replace the spark plug as per the maintenance period specified by JAC. When replacing the spark plug in the maintenance period, it is recomme -nded to follow the precautions below: -The spark plug and the engine ignition system are suitable for each other and help reduce toxic substance in exhaust emission. It is recommended that you use genuine JAC spark plugs to avoid malfunctions or engine damage caused by the interference-susceptible spark plugs or excessive emissions. What is critical to an spark plug is its electrode number, thermal value and anti-radio interference capability. -The design and construction of spark plugs are subject to technical altera -tion, it is therefore recommended that you only use spark plugs acquired from the JAC authorized after-service centers. Check windshield wiper Before driving, check if the rear windshield washer fluid level meets relevant requirements. If not, add an appropriate amount of washer fluid. See the engine compartment diagram for information about the position of windshield washer fluid reservoir, whose volume is marked on its surface. Under cold climate, do not add the front windshield washer fluid to more than 3/4 of the full level. Washer fluid will freeze and expand when temperature is too low. Too much washer fluid added will occupy reservoir expansion room and even damage the reservoir. It is recomme -nded to add windshield washer fluid into water. Windshield washer fluid has a strong decontamination and anti-freezing capability for long time service. Check the front window wipers the automatic car washing equipment, there will be hard wax residuals on the windshield. These hard wax residuals can be removed by special cleaning agent only. For specific information, please consult specially permitted after-sales service stations of JAC. -There will be grating when wiper blades are damaged. At the moment, it is necessary to replace these wiper blades. -The orientation angle for the wiper arm is incorrect. Relevant inspections and even adjustments (when necessary) can be carried out in JAC specially permitted after-sales service stations. Check wipers for their normal operation and wear condition regularly. If there is grating at wiper blades, causes may be as follows: - If you have your vehicle washed on 125 Check and replace wheels ○New tires do not produce a best adhesion, thus needing a running -in period. For new tires, it is necessary to carefully drive at medium speed in an initial 500km travel. A good running-in will help extend tire service life. ○Treads of new tires come different in construction and shape depending on their type and manufacturer. 126 Check tires for damage (punctures, cuts, cracks and swells) frequently. Clear foreign materials in tire treads. To avoid damage of tire and wheel hub , you need to avoid head-on obstacles and drive past them as slowly as possible when encountering curbstone or similar obstacles. In general, it is not easy to observe tire and wheel hub damage. Abnormal vibration or pulling to one side indicates that tires may get damaged. If you cast doubt on one tire, immediately slow down and stop your car. Check the tire for damage (swells, cracks, etc). If no visual damage takes places, drive your car slowly and carefully to the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for an overhaul. Description on tire with fixed driving direction If treads of tires correspond to some direction (See direction arrow at tire side surface), you should drive along the fixed driving direction. That will obtain the best performance in terms of water skidding, road adhesion, low noise and wear. Tire service life Tire service life normally depends on such factors as inflated air pressure, driving habit and wheel dynamic balance. Inflation pressure The inflation pressure of tires is larger by 20kp in winter than in summer. Check tire air pressure at least once a month. Check tire air pressure before a long distance travel each time. Keep in mind to bring spare tire with you. The spare tires shall be inflated up to the max value specified. Check tire air pressure when the tires are under cold state. Do not reduce the relatively high tire air pressure due to tire temperature rise. Tire air pressure shall be adjusted depending on the variation of car loads. A too low or too high tire air pressure will shorten tire service life and affect your car drivability. A too low tire air pressure will increase fuel consum -ption and thus unnecessary environ -mental pollution. Check the air pressure of all tires when the tires are completely cool. Adjust tire air pressure following relevant instructions on tire labels. After adjustment is completed, you need to check tires for damage or leaks. Tire size 205/55R16 pressure(KPa) front rear 220±10 220±10 Driving habit Such driving habits as fast curve driving, sudden acceleration and brak -ing will step up tire wear. Wheel dynamic balance To as much as possible extend tire service life and obtain best overall performance, wheels were well aligned and balanced before leaving the factory. However, factors will cause wheels to get imbalanced and steering vibration when driving. Imbalanced wheels will also accelerate the wear of the steering mechanism, wheel suspensions and tires. It is therefore necessary to readjust wheel dynamic balance. In addition, you need to re-adjust wheel dynamic balance each time tires are repaired or repla -ced. 127 Tire wear sign Wheel change Wear sign When tire tread depth reaches its limit or gets even smaller, wear signs will appear on tire tread. There are 4 to 8 wear signs uniformly spaced around the tire circumference depending on different tire types 128 ○When tires are worn to show wear signs, you should immedia -tely replace worn tires. Never delay tire replacement. ○A severely worn tire will reduce its adhesion to ground especially when driving at high speed on a wet road. In addition, it will cause your car to skid earlier than expec -ted. ○Using a severely worn or insuffi -cient inflated tire may cause accidents, body injuries or even death. The purpose of regular wheel change is to ensure uniform wear of all tires. The first wheel change is extremely important. To ensure uniform wear of all tires and extend their service life, you need to change the wheels in the sequence shown in the above figure. Drive your car to the JAC authorized after-service centers for wheel align -ment. Do not use compact spare tire at the wheel change. After wheel change is completed, you need to adjust inflated air pressure of front and rear tires complying with tire and load information described on labels. Make sure that all wheelnutsaretightenedcorrectly. The tightening sequence of wheel nuts is as below: Wheel nuts The tightening torque for wheel nuts is 100 to 120 Nom Keep wheel nuts clean and threads perfect . You should under no circum -stances rub oil or grease onto wheel nuts . If the tightening torque for wheel nuts is too small, wheel nuts will loosen and cause accidents when driving. If the tightening torque of wheel nuts is too large, it will damage nuts and threads. Replace tire and wheel rim Tires and wheel rims are key structural parts. You had better use tires and wheel rims recognized by JAC to make sure that they are suitable for your car and to obtain best adhesion and driving safety. Various tires and wheel rims recognized by JAC and relevant inform -ation are available from the JAC authorized after-service centers. To ensure driving safety, it is recomm -ended to replace the tires in pairs, instead of individually. All four wheels of your car shall only be equipped with radial ply tires with the same tread, construction, and size (rolling circumference). If spare tires and servicing tires come different in specifications, you should use the spare tires only when servicing tires go wrong. You should limit the service time of spare tires to a short range and at the same time drive carefully and slowly. Replace the spare tires with standard ones as soon as possible. Do not use any old tires you are not familiar with. New replacements shall have the same size, load capability, speed grade and construction with old ones. 129 Emission control system ○Drive carefully with tires which have served more than 6 years. These tires can only be used for emergency applications. ○Keep tires away from oil, grease and fuel. ○Immediately install a new valve cap if missing. ○Before remove wheels, mark signs on them. Re-install wheels with their rolling direction unchan -ged. ○Keep wheels and tires removed in a cool and dry shade. 130 if your car is equipped with nonoriginal JAC tires and wheels, observe the following precautions: ○Technically, wheels suitable for other vehicles are not suitable for your car. In some cases, wheels of other cars of the same model as yours are not suitable. ○Wheels or tires not recognized by JAC may reduce your driving safety. ○Wheels and their bolts are of matching structure. When using other wheels, you should also utilized bolts and nuts with a length and ball-socket shape corresponding to the wheels. Whether the emission control system works normally is critical to vehicle environmental protection performance. It is therefore recommended that you follow the following advice. -Only unleaded petrol is suitable for the models with catalytic converter. -For the models with catalytic conve -rter, do not run out of its petrol. Irregular fuel supply may cause combu -stion misfire, which will lead unbur -ned fuel to enter the emission system and thus damage the catalytic converter due to overheating. -if such phenomena as combustion misfire, decreased power output and uneven running take place when driving, it indicates that there is a malfunction in the ignition system. In this case, unburned fuel may enter the atmosphere. The catalytic converter may get damaged due to overheating. Immediately slow down and drive to the nearest service center for trouble -shooting. -Do not add too much engine oil. -If starting your car by a towing vehicle, you should keep the tow distance within 50m. ○The catalytic converter may get hot when driving on a poor road or under abnormal condition. When stopping your car, notice to keep the catalytic converter away from flammable materials.. ○The additional underplate protec -tion or anti-corrosion materials are not allowed to be applied onto exhaust manifold, exhaust pipe, catalytic converter or heat shield. Those materials may catch fire when driving. Three-way catalytic converter This device is designed to convert hazardous gases including CO, HC and NOx into carbon dioxide, water and nitrogen by oxidation and reduction. Description: Sulfur emissions may be produced under certain engine working condition even when the catalytic converter works normally. Keep spare tire at specified maxim -um air pressure for use under all conditions. Jack specification: For JAC J5 passenger cars, spare tire, jack and driver tools are located beneath the trunk floor. ○Make sure that the mounting bracket for spare tire is fixed on the trunk floor. ○The driver tools include a triangular reflective warning sign. After stopping your car, you had better place the warning sign about 100m away from your car at Max allowable load capacity 800kg Lubricating grease type Li-based lubricating grease grade National Lubricating Grease Institute (NLGI) ○he jack designed by JAC shall be only used for your car. ○Never apply a load to a jack in excess of its max allowable load. ○To avoid damage or body injuri -es, you should never use your jack to lift other vehicles. 133 Replace tire The following precautions will be helpful for you to replace flat tire: Take out/place back spare tire 拧 ○Turn on the hazard warning lamp. ○Stop your car in a safe place where traffic flow is low. ○Stop your car in a hard horizontal place. ○Turn off the engine and pull out the ignition key. ○Apply the parking brake. ○Get your passengers out of your car in a safe place. ○Place the triangular warning sign about 100m away from your car. ○Place a wedge, wood block or stone at the back of the tire diagonal to the tire to be replaced. ○The failure to follow these precautions may cause car damage or body injuries. 134 松 紧 开 Take out the spare tire as per the procedure as below: 1. Open the trunk cover. 2. Raise the floor in the trunk. 3. Manually loosen fixing bolts of spare tire counterclockwise. 4. Take out the spare tire. Place back an old tire in reverse procedure. Replace tire The following advice will be helpful whenever there is tire burst or air leaks during your driving: 1. Keep your foot away from the accelerator pedal when driving straight and slowly stop your car at the roadside. Do not apply the brake or try to bring your car to stop at the roadside immediately. If so, your car may get out of control. Slowly stop your car in a hard horizontal place at the roadside as much as possible. 2. After your car fully stops, turn on the hazard warning lamp, apply the parking brake, shift the selector rod to the P (for models with automatic transmi -ssion) or R (for models with manual transmission) position, and place a triangular warning sign behind your car. 3. Get all passengers out of your car at the side far away from traffic flow. 4. Replace tire as per the following procedure: The following procedure applies to tire change and flat tire replacement. Before replacing flat tires, you should shift the selector rod to the P (for models with automatic transmission) or R (for models with manual transmi -ssion) position and apply the parking brake. To replace burst tire, stop your car on a horizontal road far away from traffic flow. 1. Take out spare tire and tools Take out the spare tire and the jack from your toolkit. 2. Block wheels 3. Loosen wheel nuts Before lifting your car via the jack, you should block with a stop the tire diagonal to the tire to be replaced. This is to prevent your car from moving when replacing tires. Prior to lifting your car, make sure that the socket wrench has firmly covered the nut. Turn your wrench smoothly and counterclockwise to loosen wheel nuts. Hold the end of the socket wrench handle to obtain a max leverage. Do not try to take off the nut. Turn the nuts for half turn to one turn. 135 4. Place the jack 5. Lift your car Ground clearance for installing spare tire shall be larger than that for removing old one. Before replacing tires and installing anti-skid chains, place jack at proper location as shown in the above figure to lift your car, in order to avoid damage to your car. 136 Connect the nut wrench, jack and its extension rod as shown in the figure above. Turn clockwise the nut wrench to lift your car. Before lifting your car, re-check if the jack is arranged in a correct position, in order to prevent your car from sliding down from the jack. For soft ground or sand, you need to place a proper plate, brick, flat stone or the like under the jack to prevent the jack from subsiding. Fully lift your car to install the spare tire. ○Always use original JAC jack for tire replacement only. ○Place the jack on a hard horizo -ntal road. ○Carefully use the jack. Make sure that there is no person beneath or inside your car. ○Lift your car until there is a small ground clearance. A too large ground clearance may be hazar -dous. ○It is very hazardous for the jack to skid. Never keep your car lifted for a long time. Never shake your car when being lifted. 6. Replace wheels ○After your car is lifted by a jack, it is very hazardous for any person to stay beneath or inside the car. The car may fall down to cause severe body injuries or even death. ○Wheel hub edges are sharp. Take off them carefully. Before installing wheels, make sure that wheels and hubs are clean and free of such foreign materials as mud, gravel and asphalt. Any foreign materials may affect the fastening level of wheels. Remove foreign materials by means of a piece of cloth or clean water. If wheels have poor contact with hubs, nuts will get looser and looser until wheels come off. That may cause your car to be out of control or result in severely body injuries or even death. Loosen wheel nuts with a wrench. Take off the nuts and the hub cover (if equipped) by hand. Slide down the wheel along its bolts. Place horizontally the wheel to prevent it from rolling. Lift the spare wheel. Align its mounting -holes with bolts. Push and slide the spare wheel onto the bolts. If youfeel a little hard to do so, you can insert the hub top bolt into one upper hole of the wheel and shake your car to install all other bolts in place one by one. 137 7. Re-install wheel nuts 8. Lower car body and tighten nuts Lower car body onto the ground as shown in the figure above. Mount the wheel hub cap (if equipp -ed). Tighten nuts by hand. Shake the wheel to make sure that all nuts are fully installed. Re-tighten the nuts by hand. Arrange the wrench as shown in the above figure. Make sure that the socket wrench firmly covers the nut. Tighten the nuts. Do not tread the 138 wrench handle with your foot or place the extension rod onto wrench handle. Tighten all nuts and re-check them for any loosening. After the wheel is replaced, request a mechanic to tighten the nuts to their specified torque. After replacement Take off the valve cap. Measure the air pressure via a barometer if available. The air pressure measured is lower than a specified value. Slowly drive to the nearest service center for inflation. If the air pressure measured is too high, bleed the tire until its air pressure reaches the specified value. After checking and air pressure adjustment are completed, you shall cover the valve cap. The valve cap is used to prevent air in the tire from escaping. So, do remember to install it. If the valve cap is missing, buy a new one as Circuit fuse soon as possible. After wheel replacement, you need to place the removed flat tire on the spare tire mounting bracket in the above-described procedure. Place the jack, its handles and other tools onto their original positions. To avoid damage to electrical system due to short-circuit or over-load, each circuit is equipped with a fuse. If there is a blown fuse, contact the JAC authorized after-service center for troubleshooting, repair or replacement. If replacement is necessary, use a fuse with the same blow-out current as that of the replaced one. At the replacement of fuse, choose a fuse with the same amperage or lower amperage than that of the replaced one. Never use a fuse with a blow-out current larger than the rated value or a similar substitute (e.g. wire or platinum wire). Otherwise, it may result in short-circuit or even a fire. To check if there is a blown fuse, follow the procedure below: 1. Stop the engine. Turn off the electrical system. 2. Open the fuse box. Pull outward fuses from the box (there is a small clamp). Carefully check each fuse. 3. If one fuse is blown, the others shall also be checked. 139 Car towing/craning 4. Replace the blown fuse with a spare one. Make sure that the spare fuse matches the socket. If not, you need to buy a new one or remove from other accessories (e.g. CD player, cigarette lighter) temporarily unused a fuse with lower amperage than that of the one to be replaced If the newly installed fuse is blown, contact the JAC author -ized after-service center for troubleshooting. 140 For car towing or craning service, contact the JAC authorized afterservice center or professional vehicle towing /craning service providers. They will ensure a safe and reliable car towing or craning service. In addition, professi -onals are more familiar with relevant local regulations on vehicle towing and craning. You can use a wheeled crane truck (1) or (2) or (3) platform equipment to tow and crane your car. (1) (2) (3) Be careful not to damage bump -ers or bottom plate when towing and craning your car. Never use a cable-type crane truck to tow and crane your car. Or, it may cause damage to the bumpers or bottom plate. If towing and craning your car with its rear wheels contacting the ground, make sure that the parking brake is released. Check the transmission oil level before towing and craning your car. If the level is too low, add more oil. If it's impossible to add the oil, tow and crane your car with its four wheels suspended. Manual transmission If not using a towing and craning vehicle, you need to turn the ignition switch and the selector rod to ACC and Neutral respectively. If not using a towing and craning vehicle, you should not tow and crane your car from the tail when the ignition key is pulled out or when the ignition switch turns to LOCK. Automatic transmission If all of the four wheels of the towed vehicle are on the ground, the vehicle can be towed only from its front. Confirm the transmission is located at neutral gear position, place the ignition switch at ACC and make sure the steering wheel is not locked up. There should be a driver operating the steering wheel and brake in the towed vehicle. To avoid serious damage of the automatic transmission, vehicle speed should not exceed 30km/h and towing distance should be within the range of 30km. Before vehicle towing, check the AT for transmission oil leakage. In the case of transmission oil leakage, it is necessary to apply a flatbed trailer or a vehicle with a towing platform. 141 Car traction AT transmission For the models with AT transmission, it is not suitable to tow and crane from the tail with its front wheels contacting the ground. Or, it may severely dama -ge the AT transmission. 142 Front towing hook Use the vehicle special hook for towing. Using other part of your car will cause damage to the vehicle. Before towing your car, you need to get familiar with relevant local regulati -ons. Requirements for the same car model come different depending on dif -ferent regions. The towing hook comes as shown bel -ow: Rear towing hook ○Use the towing vehicle which is smaller in weight than your car. ○Never use a towing vehicle to tow your new car in its 2000km (1200 miles) running-in period. Or, it may damage the engine or transmission. Emergency start Guide to car towing -Before towing your car, carefully check suspension equipment, safety lock-chain connector, and the driving lights, brake lamps and turning lights (if equipped) of the trailer -Drive at mediate speed -During car-towing, fuel consumption is a little higher than usual. -Do not shift to D5 (for model with manual transmission) or Overdrive gear (for models with automatic transmiss -ion) to ensure your engine braking effect and battery charging performan -ce. -When driving, keep loads inside your car stable. -Check the air pressure of tires of the trailer and the towing vehicle. A low air pressure will affect car-towing. In addition. You need to check spare tire. -If your car is combined with the trailer, it will be susceptible to a head-on wind or turbulent air flow vibration. If a large vehicle passes, keep your car at constant speed and drive straight. If the wind vibration is too large, slow down to keep away from the cyclone caused by an oncoming vehicle. ○If car-towing frequency is high, frequently check your transmiss -ion oil level. ○If the engine gets too hot (thermometer pointer points to the red area) during car-towing, adopt the following measures for trouble -shooting: 1. Turn off the AC system. 2. Slow down the driving speed. If your car can not be started due to its discharged battery, turn to the batter -ies of other vehicles via a jumper cable to start the engine. Details come as follows: -Follow the "instructions to engine compartment safety" when dealing with the engine or working in the engine compartment. -The rated voltage of the two batteries shall both be 12V. The capacity (Ah) of the battery used as power supply shall not be much lower than that of the discharged one. -Use the jumper cable with an adequate cross-sectional area. Carefully read its descriptions of the manufacturer before using it. -Only use the jumper cable with insulated electrode clamps. -The two vehicles shall not contact each other. Otherwise, once the positive terminals are connected, a 143 circuit will form. -Correctly connect the discharged battery to your car electric circuit. -The engine of the vehicle as power supply shall be kept running. -Ensure that there is sufficient metal contact of electrode clamps. This is the case especially when the electrode clamps need to be fixed on the engine block or car body. One end of the anode cable (+) is connected to the anode terminal (+) of the battery A. 2. The other end of the anode cable shall be connected to the anode terminal (+) of the battery B. 3. One end of the cathode cable (-) shall be connected to the cathode terminal (-) of the battery B. 4. The other end of the cathode cable (× ) shall be connected to the engine block or a metal part firmly attached to it. The cathode cable shall be kept as much far away from the discharged battery as possible. ○Never try to charge a frozen battery, in order to avoid explos -ion hazard. Even for the de-frozen battery, the acid may overflow, thus causing corrosive hazard. ○Replace the frozen battery. ○Do not connect the cathode terminal to fuel or brake lines via a clamp. ○Metal-exposed terminals shall not contact each other. To avoid short-circuit hazard, do not keep the jumper cable connected to the battery anode terminal contact with conductive parts. ○Never contact the jumper cable with the engine moving parts. Never bend over the battery to avoid corrosion. Keep an open fire and burning cigarettes away from the battery to avoid explo -sion hazard. ○The cathode cable (×) shall not be connected to the cathode terminal of the discharged battery. Electric sparks may ignite explos -ive gases escaped from the bat -tery. cables. Turn off vehicle headlamps. The peak voltage produced when removing cables may burn the headlamps. If the engine begins to run, remove two cables in reverse procedures. Start the engine in the procedures described in the chapter "Engine Start". If the engine fails to start in 10s, stop starting it. Re-start the engine in about 30s. Switch on the fan and rear windshield heater of the vehicle equipped with an auxiliary battery. Reduce the peak voltage produced when removing 145 Engine overheating If the water temperature gauge indicates a high temperature value or if you feel decreased engine power output or hear "click" noise, it indicates that the engine gets overheated. In this case, your should take the following measures: 1. To ensure safety, immediately drive your car to the roadside and stop it in a safe place. 2. Shift the selector rod to P (for models with automatic transmission ) or Neutral (for models with manual transmission). Apply the parking brake. Switch off the AC system. 3. If there is engine coolant or steam escaping from the engine cover, do not try to open the engine cover until there is no coolant or steam escaping. If there is no coolant or steam escaping, start the engine to check if the fan works normally. If in this case the fan fails to work, stop the engine. 146 4. Check if the water pump belt is missing. If not, check if it is firmly tensioned. If the belt works normally, check if there is coolant escaping from the radiator and hose (if you have used the AC system, it is normal that there is cool water flowing out when stopping car). 5. If the water pump belt is damaged or there are coolant leaks, immediately stop the engine and contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for help. 6. If you fail to find out causes for overheating, wait until the engine temperature returns to normal. If the coolant level is too low, carefully open the radiator cap. Add coolant until its level reaches half of the marked scale. 7. Keep the engine running. Observe if the engine gets overheated. If so, contact the nearest JAC authorized after-service center for help. If the coolant level is far too low, it indicates that the cooling system goes wrong. Immediately contact the nearest JAC authorized after -service center for help. ○Keep your hair, hands, and clothes away from such moving parts as fan and belt when the engine is running to avoid body injuries. ○Do not deal with the fuel injection system when the engine is running or 30s after the engine is off. High pressure pump, injector, high-pressure duct are under high pressure when the engine just stops. ○Fuel ejected onto clothes due to leakage may cause severe body injuries.
