TRUNK FLOOR WIRING HARNESS INSPECTION AND REPAIR
Description: On certain 2015-2016 Genesis (DH) vehicles, the trunk harness may be damaged due to tension
against the trunk lid arm. This bulletin provides the procedure to inspect, repair when necessary, and reroute the
wire harness.
Possible conditions if the trunk harness is damaged:
1. Rear view camera inoperative.
2. Passenger side license plate light inoperative.
3. Passenger side inner brake light inoperative.
4. Passenger side inner reverse light inoperative.

Service Procedure:
1. If applicable, record the customer’s radio
preset stations for AM/FM/XM.
2. Push the trunk button to open the trunk to
access the battery.
3. Remove the trunk cover board (A).

4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal (B).
Negative battery terminal tightening
torque:
4.0 ~ 6.0 N.m (0.4 ~ 0.6 kgf.m, 3.0 ~ 4.4 lb-ft)

5. Remove the trunk lid hinge cover (C).

NOTICE
The rear trim must be removed, and
right side trim moved to center of
trunk to access the wire harness.
6. Rear Trim Removal
Remove the two clips (D) using a panel
removal tool.

7. Using a panel removal tool, carefully lift the
rear trim upward while unclipping the clips
from the vehicle body.
8. Right Side Trim
Using a 10mm socket, Phillips screwdriver,
and panel tool, remove the following items:
1. Two clips.
2. Two Phillips screws.
3. Two 10mm bolts.
9. Partially remove the weather strip as shown

on the picture to the right. Disengage the
mounting hook (E1) (E2) from the vehicle
body.
NOTICE
Lift the trunk panel upward to
disengage the LH & RH side mounting
hooks.

10. Disengage the trim mounting clip (F).

11. Remove the side trim mounting plug (G).

12. Move the side trim (H) to the side to provide
access for the wiring harness.

Location of the harness to be inspected.
13. Loosen the mounting screw (K).
Disengage the clip (L).
Remove the bracket (M).

Discard the removed bracket (M).

14. Remove the electrical tape from the wire
harness to access the wires from inside (N).

15. Inspect if there is any damaged or cut wire.
If a wire is found damaged or cut, perform the
procedure from below to repair it.
If no wire is found damaged, then proceed to
step 19.
16. Use a multi-purpose wire stripper and strip off
about 1/4 inch of the vinyl coating of each end
of the wire.

17. Insert the shrink tube (O) to one end of the
wire and insert both wires into the butt
connector (P). Use a multi-purpose crimper to

crimp the butt connector.
NOTICE
Slightly pull both ends of the wires
to ensure the wire is tightly crimped.
18. Place the shrink tube (O) over the butt
connector and use a heat gun to shrink it.
NOTICE

Align the butt connector to the
center of the shrink tube.
19. Use electrical tape and wrap the harness as
shown in the picture to the right.

20. Move the wiring clip (Q) downward of
approximately three inches, and fasten it to
the mounting location (R).

21. Reinstall all the removed parts in the reverse
order of removal.
22. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
23. Turn the ignition ON and confirm no DTC(s)
are present.
If a DTC(s) is present, use the GDS to clear
the code.
If applicable, clear any DTCs in the Blue Link
system per instructions of TSB 12-BE-005-2.
24. If applicable, reprogram the customer’s radio
presets for AM/FM/XM.
