The bumper design and low rolling resistance tyres reduce air resistance and improve fuel economy. With everything at your fingertips, you can concentrate fully on the road ahead. When you drive the Jazz there’s a lot more to see; a specially designed windscreen increases all-round vision and thinned pillars allow light to flow through the cabin. Please see specification pages for more details. 08 09 10 Magic Seats Magic Seats The unique flexibility of the Jazz is characterised in an interior that can be transformed with either a push of a button or the lift of a lever. The rear seats lift up, fold over and lock down with one easy movement, and the 60:40 split folding design creates a number of perfect configurations for your ever changing requirements. This allows easy loading and the accommodation of tall, long and awkward objects. A two-tiered design gives you the adaptability to keep delicate and heavy items separate ensuring that everything travels along comfortably with plenty of space to spare. A choice of conventional 5-speed manual or advanced automatic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) gives you the options to suit your preferred style of driving. The innovative CVT technology adjusts according to your driving style, seamlessly changing the drive ratio to ensure the optimum engine output for your chosen speed, giving you a smooth and comfortable drive. Now you can choose the 1.2 i-VTEC engine with Idle Stop*, which works by turning off the engine when you come to a standstill, at traffic lights for example, and re-starts automatically when you depress the clutch, saving fuel and reducing emissions. In fact the only real difference is the part electric, part petrol hybrid engine that gives you lower CO2 emissions while you’re enjoying all of the Jazz’s other great features. The headlights and rear combination lights have a blue clear design and coated finish, which adds a sharp, clean look to the exterior. In the UK, the Jazz will be a right hand drive vehicle. 20 21 22 Hybrid: How it works Making a little go a long way The Jazz Hybrid uses an Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system to combine an advanced electric motor with a conventional petrol engine. In certain conditions the Jazz Hybrid has the capability to run under electric power only. The result is improved fuel economy and a more refined drive. So, whether you’re accelerating, cruising or slowing to a stop, the electric motor and battery pack maintain a lively and efficient flow of power. The Jazz Hybrid also comes as standard with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which delivers optimum fuel economy and ensures the most efficient drive ratio is always selected. This means your Jazz consumes less fuel, releases fewer emissions and, ultimately, saves you money. The system changes the colour of the speedometer background according to the efficiency of your drive, glowing from blue to green depending on how you are driving, with green being the most fuel efficient. The ‘flower’ emblem is designed to help you measure how economically you are driving. Leaves accumulate the more efficiently you drive, allowing you to monitor your driving style. The hybrid engine gives you a refined source of power; Eco Assist system gives you the ability to use it to maximum effect and make even more of a difference to your journey. The protection of passengers and pedestrians is paramount in the engineering of the body structure, technology systems and interior features. Dual Supplemental Restraint System front, side and curtain airbags protect the cabin and intelligent SRS not only allows you to turn the passenger airbag off but also reminds you to switch it on again. ADVANCED COMPATIBILITY ENGINEERING (ACE) The 42% high tensile steel body structure disperses energy across the frame and away from those in and around the car. The Jazz has been rated as one of the safest cars on the road, with a maximum 5 Star rating from Euro NCAP 2009. In addition to the safety features seen here, the Jazz also comes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) brakes, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) working in conjunction with ABS to help maintain directional stability, and Brake Assist (BA) which boosts braking power in an emergency. ACTIVE FRONT HEAD RESTRAINTS In the event of a collision, anti-whiplash front head restraints and 3-point ELR seatbelts help keep passengers safe and secure. HondaJet was born from the power of these dreams. We wanted to design a jet that maximises efficiency and performance as well as offering more comfort and space without increasing its size. This led us to break with conventional aerospace thinking and incorporate many unique and revolutionary ideas, like mounting the engines over the wings as opposed to the rear of the fuselage as featured on most business jets. This may sound a little odd, but in fact it is totally logical, because this layout means the rear of the fuselage no longer has to be designed to house and support the engines, allowing internal space to be maximized. Because we couldn’t find existing engines that fitted our strict criteria for performance and efficiency, we decided to build our own. The result, extremely quiet, lightweight and powerful HF120 turbofan engines. When matched with our ‘over the wing technology’, they allow faster flight speeds than other aircraft in this class, greater fuel efficiency and significant improvement in aerodynamic performance. Everything we have learnt developing HondaJet will go into everything else we do, leading us to new innovations, new ideas and new directions.
