Before beginning the installation and/or operation of your new product, the installation technician and operator must read this manual completely. Important information is contained herein that could prevent serious injury or damage. • Proper installation of this product requires the installer to have a good understanding of automotive electronics, systems and procedures. • Failure to use specified installation parts and/or hardware will void the product warranty! • If mounting this product requires drilling holes, the installer MUST be sure that no vehicle components or other vital parts could be damaged by the drilling process. Check both sides of the mounting surface before drilling begins. Also de-burr any holes and remove any metal shards or remnants. Install grommets into all wire passage holes. • If this manual states that this product may be mounted with suction cups, magnets, tape or Velcro®, clean the mounting surface with a 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water and dry thoroughly. • Do not install this product or route any wires in the deployment area of your air bag. Equipment mounted or located in the air bag deployment area will damage or reduce the effectiveness of the air bag, or become a projectile that could cause serious personal injury or death. Refer to your vehicle owner’s manual for the air bag deployment area. The User/Installer assumes full responsibility to determine proper mounting location, based on providing ultimate safety to all passengers inside the vehicle. • For this product to operate at optimum efficiency, a good electrical connection to chassis ground must be made. The recommended procedure requires the product ground wire to be connected directly to the NEGATIVE (-) battery post. • If this product uses a remote device to activate or control this product, make sure that this control is located in an area that allows both the vehicle and the control to be operated safely in any driving condition. • Do not attempt to activate or control this device in a hazardous driving situation. • This product contains either strobe light(s), halogen light(s), high-intensity LEDs or a combination of these lights. Do not stare directly into these lights. Momentary blindness and/or eye damage could result. • Use only soap and water to clean the outer lens. Use of other chemicals could result in premature lens cracking (crazing) and discoloration. Lenses in this condition have significantly reduced effectiveness and should be replaced immediately. Inspect and operate this product regularly to confirm its proper operation and mounting condition. Do not use a pressure washer to clean this product. • It is recommended that these instructions be stored in a safe place and referred to when performing maintenance and/or reinstallation of this product. • FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE PRODUCT OR VEHICLE AND/OR SERIOUS INJURY TO YOU AND YOUR PASSENGERS! White/Green - Scan-Lock™ The WHITE/GREEN wire allows you to choose from the available flash patterns listed below. First you must activate the lighthead(s) you wish to change: Installation / Split Bar: Wire Color WHT/GRN BROWN WHT/BLK BLUE ORANGE WHT/ORG BLK RED IMPORTANT! The lightbar should be located a minimum of 16" from any radio antennas! Note: When routing the wires, it is important to choose a path that will keep the wires away from excessive heat or any vehicle equipment that could compromise the integrity of the wires (ex. trunk lids, door jams, etc.) 1. Locate and install the rubber window seal (included) onto the lower, leading edge and side of the housing. 2. Using an appropriately sized Torx head screwdriver, loosen (do not remove) the three screws securing the passenger-side visor swivel bracket to the vehicle. 3. Remove the screws securing the visor clip to the vehicle. Remove and retain the clip and all hardware. Slide bracket under passenger side visor swivel bracket NOTE: Passenger-side Charger mounting NOTE: kit components are shown here for NOTE: reference. Other models will mount NOTE: the same. Lightbar mounting bracket Side View (indicated with a “P”) Mounting brackets and orient as shown. Slide mounting #10 External Mount to tooth lock bottom of bracket fingers washer housing between loosened 10-24 Acorn Nut swivel bracket and #10 Flat washer headliner. The bracket #10 External tooth fingers should straddle the inner lock washer section of the swivel bracket when Sheet metal screw (from lightbar) properly oriented. Position the keyed opening of the mounting bracket directly under the mounting location for the visor clip removed in step 2. With the bracket in this position, remount the visor clip in its original location using the original hardware. Firmly tighten any hardware loosened in this procedure. Repeat this procedure for the driver-side assembly and mounting bracket (indicated with a “D”). Position the lightbar as shown. Using the hardware provided, secure the lightbar to the mounting bracket. When properly mounted, the rubber seal will be in full contact with the vehicle windshield and roof. This is to prevent light output from entering the passenger compartment. When this has been achieved, tighten mounting hardware firmly to maintain contact. Route the lightbar cable down the vehicle A-pillar to your control head. Make all wiring connections using the information in the wiring diagram. Wiring: Function Scan-Lock Low Power Take-Downs TD / Flash Flash Steady Ground (-) +12VDC Momentary Switch SPST Switch SPST Switch SPST Switch SPST Switch SPST Switch Wiring Diagram TIR3™ Models All Fuses & Switches Customer Supplied Fuse @ 10 AMPS LINZ6™ Models Fuse @ 15 AMPS BATTERY 1 AMP Fuse TO CYCLE THROUGH ALL PATTERNS: Apply +12 VDC to the WHITE/GREEN wire for less than 1 second and release to cycle forward. Apply +12 VDC to the WHITE/GREEN wire for more than 1 second and release to cycle backward. TO SET A PATTERN AS DEFAULT: When the pattern is displayed, allow it to run for more than 5 seconds. The lighthead will now display this pattern when active. TO RESET TO THE FACTORY DEFAULT PATTERN: Turn off power and apply +12 VDC to the WHITE/GREEN wire while turning power on. ActionScan™ Alternating. Brown: Hi/Low Power The low power feature allows you to step the lightbar down to run in low power for night time use. Fuse this wire @ 1AMP. A single pole / single throw switch can be used to control Hi/Low power. To activate Low power operation: Apply +12 VDC to the BROWN wire. To restore regular power: Remove the BROWN wire from +12 VDC. White/Black: Take-Downs Apply +12 VDC to the WHITE/BLACK wire to activate the take-downs. Fuse this wire @ 1AMP. Blue: Take-Down Flasher Apply +12 VDC to the BLUE wire to cause the take-downs to flash. Fuse this wire @ 1AMP. White/Orange: Steady-burn option WARNING! All customer supplied wires that connect to the positive terminal of the battery must be sized to supply at least 125% of the maximum operating current and FUSED at the battery to carry that load. DO NOT USE CIRCUIT BREAKERS WITH THIS PRODUCT! Apply +12 VDC to the WHITE/ORANGE wire to activate the center steady-burn lighthead(s). Fuse this wire @ 1AMP. Operation: Apply +12 VDC to the ORANGE wire and all of the lightheads that are activated will flash. Fuse this wire @ 1AMP. This lightbar is powered and controlled by an 8-conductor cable exiting the lightbar. All functions listed here are not present in all lightbars. Orange: Flasher IMPORTANT! Before returning this vehicle to active service, visually confirm the proper operation of this product, as well as all vehicle components/equipment. Page 2 IMPORTANT! Vehicle Position Inboard - All except Lo-Pro Outboard - Tahoe Crown Vic Impala 06 Crown Vic Lo-Pro only Outboard Bracket Important note for Chevrolet Impalas: When mounting to a Chevrolet Impala, the optical gasket must be installed. Failure to do so could result in reflected light within the passenger compartment. Driver-Side Mounting Bracket Labeled "D" Mounting Inboard Bracket Fingers Optical Gasket 2005 Impala Locate and install the rubber window seal onto the lower, leading edge of the housing. 2. Using an appropriately sized Torx® head screwdriver, loosen the three screws securing the driver-side visor swivel bracket to the vehicle. Do not remove these screws. 3. Remove the screws securing the visor clip to the vehicle. Remove and retain the clip and all hardware. 4. Locate the driver-side mounting bracket (indicated with a “D” label). Orient bracket as shown. 5. Slide the mounting bracket fingers between the loosened swivel bracket and the headliner. The bracket fingers should straddle the inner section of the swivel bracket when properly oriented. 6. Position the keyed opening of the mounting bracket directly under the mounting location for the visor clip removed in step 2. With the bracket in this position, remount the visor clip in its original location using the original hardware. Firmly tighten any hardware loosened in this procedure. Using provided #10-32 x 3/8” black oxide screws, secure the lightbar to the mounting brackets. Tighten this hardware firmly. Route lightbar cable down vehicle A-pillar to control head.
