GENERAL INFORMATION
I 9 6 0 PASSENGER CAR MODEL DESIGNATION
The following information will acquaint you with the model code system being used with the 1960 series vehicles.
The year is identified by the letter " P " for 1960.
Each car make is identified by the letters P for Plymouth, D - Dodge, S - DeSoto, C - Chrysler, and Y for the
Imperial.
The various chassis for each make are identified by the numbers 1, 2 and 3. In the Plymouth No. 1 represents a
6 cylinder chassis and No. 2 an 8 cylinder chassis. On Dodge No. 3 represents a 6 cylinder chassis and No. 4 an 8
cylinder chassis on 118" W.B. cars. On DeSoto, Chrysler, and Imperial, the numbers 1, 2, and 3 indicate one of the
various 8 cylinder chassis built.
The last letter in the model code indicates the price class in which the particular model falls, as shown below.
L - Low price class (Savoy, Seneca, Matador, FireFlite, Windsor, Imperial Custom)
M - Medium price class (Belvedere, Pioneer, Adventurer, Saratoga, Imperial Crown)
H - High price class (Fury, Phoenix, Polara, New Yorker, Imperial LeBaron)

PARTS CATALOG REVISION SERVICE
GENERAL
Subscribers to the MoPar Passenger Car Parts Catalog Revision Service will be provided with revision pages incorporating latest information. Proper interfiling of the revision pages will insure the subscriber a complete and upto-date Parts Book.
Accompanying each mailing of a set of revision pages is a covering letter which outlines the contents of the particular
revision: Group Name, Group Number, and Page Numbers being eliminated, replaced, or added to each revised group.
It is advised that the letter be read carefully to avoid elimination of pages which are still current.
INTERFILING REVISION PAGES
The importance of prompt interfiling of revision pages upon receipt cannot be stressed too greatly.
The following method for interfiling revised and new pages has been found to be efficient and time saving and is
recommended for your use:
1.
Insert the revised pages loosely in their proper location in the catalog.
2.
Pull the locking trigger and lift the transfer bar with all pages down to the first loose revision sheet which
has been inserted in its proper location.
3.
Compare the revised (loose) page with the superseded page, noting changes and date.
NOTE: If you use the revised pages as part of your parts record-keeping system, note the changes in the revised
(loose) page and post accordingly.
4.
Remove superseded page.
5.
Place revised page on post of transfer bar.
6.
Replace transfer bar with all pages in place on bottom post.
7.
Re-lock cover and your catalog is current and accurate.

1960 PASSENGER GAR PARTS CATALOG GENERAL ^FORMATION
SPECIFYING INFORMATION
The following information is included in this Parts
Catalog:
1. Part Type Code
2. Part Name
3. Part Number
4. Model Application
5. Quantity used per vehicle
Effective points of changes by vehicle serial number,
engine number and body number.
Description and dimensions necessary for proper
identification of parts.
Parts not previously listed in the Parts Catalog are
designated by a double box (B) symbol preceding the
part number.
HOW TO LOCATE PARTS
The Parts Catalog is divided into Groups. A tab index is provided to separate the Groups. To locate a part by name,
see Alphabetical Index. To locate a part by number, see Numerical Index.
In cases where only the location of the part on the vehicle is known, refer to Tab Index to locate the Group in which
the part is located. Then refer to the illustrations which appear at the beginning of that Group for identification of the
part by name and Part Type Code. Parts are listed in Part Type Code sequence within the Group and reference to the
proper code will determine the part number.
STANDARD PARTS
Standard Parts such as bolts, nuts, etc., are listed under the major parts which they attach and are not coded.
Standard Parts listed as Major Parts, such as fuses, bulbs, and bearings in the 100,000 part number series are assigned
a Part Type Code and coded within the group in which they are listed.
A comprehensive listing of the most commonly used Standard Parts available in carton quantities will be found under
Group 18.

found on the top of the cylinder block behind the water pump, except on the Plymouth PP2, where it is located on the
front of the block beneath the left-hand (driver's side) cylinder head.
IMPORTANT
MoPar Engines are supplied with blank engine number bosses only. Dealers are governed by state law on the
application of engine numbers. In states where license fees are based on displacement or taxable horsepower, it will
be necessary to change Vehicle Registration if the new MoPar Engine differs from the one which it replaces.
ILLUSTRATIONS
Illustrations are located at the beginning of each group. Parts are identified on the illustration by Noun Name and
Part Type Code. The Part Type Code designation will serve as an index to locate the listing of the Group.

GENERAL INFORMATION
PAGE NUMBERING
Two-part page numbers are used throughout this catalog. The first part of the page designation indicates the major
group or section. The second part indicates the actual page number in the group. For example:
1-1
indicates Group 1, Accessories, Page 1
2-1
indicates Group 2, Front Suspension, Page 1
In the maintenance of the Loose Leaf Parts Catalog Revision Service, it may become necessary to add information
beyond the capacity of the page. In this events an "A" page will be used. For example: If it becomes necessary,
because of change, to add several part numbers to page 2-1 and space does not permit the addition, you will be given
Page 2-1A. Page 2-1A should be filed immediately following page 2-1.
PARTS PACKAGES
Service Parts Packages, containing all parts needed for a specific service operation, are listed in their respective
groups with related parts. The listing will show adaptability and model application. Often it becomes necessary to
know just what parts are contained in a Service Package. To determine this, refer to the Service Package Section.
This section contains a secondary listing of all Service Packages in this Parts Catalog together with a /list of every
component part of each package. Service Packages in this section are listed numerically by Part Type Code.
ALPHABETICAL INDEX
Reference to any part by sub-group name is provided in the Alphabetical Index. This index indicates the Part Type
Code, by means of which the listing can be quickly located.
NUMERICAL INDEX
Reference to any part by part number is provided in the Numerical Index. This index indicates the Part Type Code.

ORDERING INFORMATION
FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS
This publication contains parts information for 1960 model passenger cars. In the event replacement parts which
are not listed are required, they may be ordered by description or part type code, giving the model or serial number
of the vehicle to which they apply.
For ease in ordering and speed in shipping, MoPar replacement parts have been coded according to Stocking Point.
These codes are explained in the MoPar Master Parts Price List.
Because items with certain codes are available at different Stocking Points, it is important that parts orders be
developed separately for each Stocking Code ("P" or "D").
HOW TO ORDER REPLACEMENT PARTS
Price Class " A " , " B " , and " S " Parts.
a)
These parts may be ordered separately or combined on the same order for a single shipment.
b)
The total value of the "Base Prices" for all the part numbers of the above parts classes that are included on
the same order qualifies that order for any applicable Volume Discounts and/or Allowances off of such "Base
Prices."
c)
"Base Prices" means the "Net Prices" published from time to time in column #6 of the Parts Price List and
its supplements.
d)
All Mail Orders (Scheduled, Unscheduled, Emergency)
(1) Use Standard Order Form 81-670-0139 exclusively for ordering " P " Section items from your usual source
of MoPar parts.
(2) Send all such orders by First Class Mail.
e)
Back Orders
(1) Stock Orders
(Scheduled,
Unscheduled)
- Back Orders from all classes of Stock Orders will be held at the Area Parts Plants.
If the original orders so qualified, transportation will be prepaid on shipments of back
orders. Otherwise, transportation charges will be F.O.B.
The billing for all back order shipments will be subject to the prices in effect on the
date of shipment as applied to the value basis at which the original order qualified.
(2) Emergency
Orders
- Back Orders from Emergency Orders will be referred to Marysville for shipment or
to the nearest Parts Plant where such items are available.
All shipments will be F.O.B. shipping point, and billing will be subject to the prices
in effect on the date of shipment.

2.
Price Class " X " and " Y " Parts.
a)
Since these are inactive part numbers that seldom warrant stocking in the field, they usually are ordered only
when needed for a particular service job.
b)
Accordingly, speed in receiving, processing and shipping such orders is vital to you, to us, and to the public,
and we have "tuned up" for this job independently of the processing for Stock Orders. In effect, every order
will be handled as an Emergency Order.
c)
An important part of this accelerated "line-up" is two separate self-identifying order forms. A supply of these
forms has been sent to all Dealers and Parts Wholesalers, and will continue to be available gratis upon request.
d)
Trim Order Form No. 81-690-0003
(1) This order form is intended to assist in the compilation of and facilitate the processing of Trim Orders.
Please use this form in all cases as detailed on the form itself. By so doing, it will help you and us to
avoid errors and to expedite shipment.
(2) Trim fabrics (body upholstery cloth, vinyl, etc.) are usually available by the yard or fraction thereof.
When ordering fabric of this type, please furnish all information on Form No. 81-690-0003, plus the
maximum length of material required. The length specified will be supplied in the bolt width of the material.
e)
" D " Order Form D-16712
Large background letters unmistakably identify this form which is to be used SOLELY and EXCLUSIVELY
for ordering part numbers with the " D " Stocking Point Codes (except Trim).
f)
Send Orders For:
(1) Trim (including Telephone and Telegraphic Orders) - to Marysville Plant Only (see (7) below).
(2) Code " D " parts ordered separately (including Telephone and Telegraphic orders) — to Marysville Plant
only.
(3) DO NOT, however, combine " P " Section items and " D " Section items on the same order.
(4) Please send all mail orders to Chrysler Motors Corporation by First Class Mail.
(5) When sending orders for " D " Section items to the Marysville Parts Plant, address them to:
CHRYSLER MOTORS CORPORATION
P.O. BOX 722
PORT HURON, MICHIGAN
(6) Back Orders - Back Orders for " D " items will be billed at the prices in effect on the date of shipment.
If the original order so qualifies, transportation will be prepaid on shipments of Back Orders;
otherwise, transportation will b e F . O . B.
(7) Unlisted Items in the Parts Price List.
Inquiries concerning the availability, prices, etc., of part numbers that are not listed in the Parts Price
List should be sent to:

ORDERING BY TELEGRAM
3.
Ordering by Telegram
a)
When ordering by telegram, follow procedure as outlined above for ordering parts.
parts with " D " classified parts on telegraphic orders.
b)
Numbers in a telegram are charged for at the rate of one word for each five digits.
for at the rate of one word for each five letters in the code word.
c)
Use the Master Code Letters if your telegraphic order is for two or more part numbers of the same series.
EXAMPLE
Do not mix " P " classified
Code words are charged
If your order is for part numbers 60§ 884, 635 885, 637 034, 667 423,
and 669 328, it is counted as 10 words.
However, a savings can be effected by using the Master Code Letters
and writing your order as follows:
K 05884, 35885, 37034, 67423, 69328
The count is 6 words — a savings of 4 words.
For orders of a single part number, or several part numbers of different series, it is not necessary to use
the Master Code Numeral.
EXAMPLE
If your order is for part numbers 605 884, 706 124, 1718 124, and
1814 122, enter your order with all digits of the part number.
MASTER CODE LETTERS
This Master Code will identify the first digit of a 6 digit part number or the first and second digits of a 7 digit
part number. The remaining digits need not be coded. The following example illustrates use of the Master Code Letters.
