The combination of the 3.5-litre V6 Atkinson cycle petrol engine and two high-output electric motors together produce 313 DIN hp yet with CO2 levels from 120g/km* and combined cycle fuel economy from 54.3mpg.* *SE grade with 18” wheels. Chassis and handling Greatly increased body rigidity is key to the new RX’s improved handling stability and ride comfort, achieved using advanced new welding and bonding technologies and strategic use of high-strength yet lightweight steels. At the same time the suspension and steering have undergone important revisions to provide sharper response and better feedback, while maintaining the comfort and cabin quietness that are hallmarks of all Lexus vehicles. Turbocharged Petrol Engine The turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine in the RX 200t is the most recent addition to Lexus range of powerplants. It is engineered to be both efficient and to give rewarding performance, witnessed in its fast throttle response and instantaneous torque delivery throughout the rev range. Advanced valve timing and turbocharger design help secure both power and economy – 238 DIN hp and 350Nm of torque, yet CO2 emissions from 181g/km* and 36.2mpg.* *S model with 18” wheels. Find a Centre Build Your RX Lexus has paid special attention to engineering even better handling and performance in the new RX. Comprehensive improvements have been made to the full hybrid powertrain, suspension and body rigidity and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine has been introduced to the range. Every element underwent many thousands of miles of rigorous testing, both in laboratory simulators and extreme real-world driving conditions to ensure the finest quality and performance are achieved. All-wheel drive systems The RX 200t is equipped with Lexus Active Torque Control system, which intelligently delivers drive to the front and rear wheels as conditions demand, from 100:0 full front-wheel drive to a 50:50 front-to-rear split. The RX 450h uses Lexus E-Four technology, with an additional electric motor on the rear axle to provide instant drive torque the moment you need extra grip. Drive Mode Select You can tailor the RX’s performance to suit your preference and the driving conditions using the Drive Mode Select control on the centre console, with Eco, Normal and Sport S. And, on F SPORT and Premier models, you also have the option of Sport S+ which brings the performance of the Adaptive Variable Suspension into the dynamic mix. According to choice, the engine performance, hybrid system, throttle, air conditioning and suspension are adapted to prioritise fuel economy or a more dynamic and engaging drive. The attention to detail includes an almost flat underbody, precise profiling of the door mirrors and strategic use of small but very effective aerodynamic fins around the vehicle. Adaptive Variable Suspension The Adaptive Variable Suspension (standard on F SPORT and Premier models) gives the RX sports saloon-style handling, together with excellent ride comfort and stability. It automatically adjusts the damping force of the shock absorbers at each wheel in line with the quality of road surface and the way the driver is using the throttle and steering. That’s why the Lexus Takumi craftspeople play such an important part in overseeing the production of every car, using their unmatched skills to ensure perfection. Their meticulous work takes the benchmark for luxury to a higher level in the new Lexus RX. The leather seats are hand-stitched by a team of 17 Takumi to achieve the flawless finish. The deep lustre and unblemished quality of the paintwork are due to the wet sanding by hand of each foundation coat. Adaptive High-beam System On Premier grade models the Lexus Safety System + includes an Adaptive High-beam System which automatically adjusts the light distribution of the LED headlights to avoid dazzling other road users, instead of switching to low beam, thus maintaining maximum illumination. Ten airbags All RX models are fitted with 10 airbags. These include dual-stage front airbags that deploy according to the level of impact, driver’s knee and front passenger cushion airbags, front and outer rear seat side airbags and full-length curtain airbags. Blind Spot Monitor Rear-mounted radar detects vehicles in adjacent lanes travelling in the driver’s blind spot and warns of their presence with a warning light in the door mirror on the appropriate side of the car. Should you indicate to change lane, the light will flash to emphasise the warning. Standard on Premier grade. Rear Cross Traffic Alert The same radar used for the Blind Spot Monitor also provides a Rear Cross Traffic Alert, warning you of vehicles approaching from either side when reversing out of a parking space by sounding a buzzer and activating the lights in the door mirrors. Standard on Premier grade. Every new RX is equipped with Lexus Safety System +, the new safety and driver assistance features that work together to deliver exceptional help to prevent accidents happening, giving the RX the top five-star Euro NCAP rating. Book a Test Drive Find a Centre Adaptive Cruise Control Controlled by a radar system mounted on the front of the car Adaptive Cruise Control will keep you a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, smoothly returning the RX to your selected cruising speed once the road is clear. Lane Departure Alert/Lane Keep Assist A camera at the front of the RX monitors lane markings on the road surface. If you begin to drift out of lane, the system will sound a warning and briefly weight the steering to help you return the RX to its correct path. Automatic High Beam Using the same camera as Lane Keep Assist, Automatic High Beam detects oncoming vehicles and traffic ahead, automatically switching the headlights between high and low beam, avoiding the risk of dazzle and maximising illumination when you need it. Pre-Crash Safety The Pre-Crash Safety system constantly monitors the road ahead and calculates the risk of a collision. If it determines an impact is likely, it triggers audible and visual warnings and prepares the brakes to deliver emergency stopping power. If the driver takes no action and an impact is unavoidable, it will automatically apply appropriate braking and tighten the front seatbelts. The Pre-Crash Safety system is also able to pinpoint pedestrians and other hazards in the RX’s path and will activate automatic braking to prevent a collision, operating across a wide range of vehicle speeds. Traffic Sign Recognition Traffic Sign Recognition uses the front camera to recognise important command and restriction signs on motorways and major roads. It replicates the information on the multi-information display, reducing the risk of the driver failing to notice them. You don’t even have to touch it and you can use your elbow if your hands are full. You can monitor an extra performance element on the multi-information display with a new G-sensor that records the lateral and longitudinal forces created as you drive.
