I remember when I was a kid, and those hot Iowa summer days playing with my brothers and sisters stretched on forever. I thought when the year 2000 came, I would be old and probably not able to do much because I would be 45! Funny how your perspective of age and time changes as you get older. I may not know everything about how the trucks are put together or if we carry some parts, but I have a good idea and I can use my catalog as a reference like everyone else. My First Day of School I worked at LMC before we were trucks, when we just did British cars. I remember when we looked around and realized that we needed to do something else. There was talk of muscle/ pony cars like Camaros and Mustangs. But we were Midwest people, and looking around the parking lot it was, “Hey, let’s do trucks.” Our first catalog was basically an accessory catalog because we had listen to a “business expert.” It didn’t take us long to realize that we weren’t really about the accessories but about the parts that kept those trucks running. Available in Standard Cab or Club Cab and your choice of shortbed (6' 6) or longbed (8') body configurations. Interior and exterior styling closely resembled the full-size Ram. The frame of the 2WD Dakota received a 50% increase in torsional rigidity to improve ride and interior cab noise levels. The 4WD frame, already stiffer than the 2WD, was carried over from previous year. Engine choices ranged from a 2.5L 4 cylinder with 120 horsepower, a 3.9L V6 with 175 horsepower or a 5.2L V8 with 230 horsepower. Driver and passenger side airbags became standard equipment for Dakota. The high performance Dakota R/T roared in with a 250 horsepower 5.9L V8 engine with automatic transmission and performance suspension, riding on 16 inch tires. Dash mounted passenger side airbag on/off switch added. Power driver seat is optional as well as a passenger side A-pillar mounted grab handle for 4WD models. We may have to split your shipment, but we will pick up the shipping charges. If you want delivery by 2nd Day or Next Day Air, your order must be in by 3 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday. This service is available only within the 48 contiguous states and not allowed to P.O. boxes or APO/FPO addresses. What You Need to Know About Shipping a Rebuildable Core Part Without the constant inflow of rebuildable cores, items can become discontinued and unavailable. Some items carry a Core Charge which can be reimbursed by your sending in a core that can be rebuilt into a usable part for someone else. These items are marked throughout the catalog with a –Z in the part number. In order to get your Core Charge refund, the part you send in must be clean, complete and rebuildable according to the standards set on that item’s catalog page.
