1941 CHEVROLET CARS DESCRIBED GENERAL: Longer, lower, and wider bodies were mounted on a chassis that had a three inch longer wheelbase. The grille resembled the 1940 version, but it was new - it had six chrome plated die cast moldings. The hood was a front opening type with side panels eliminated. The headlights were now blended into the fenders. Chrome moldings decorated the front fender tops. There were parking lamps below each headlight. The new body featured concealed safety steps instead of running boards. The slope of the windshield, rear window and upper body sides was increased. Concealed hinges were used on the doors and hood. CHEVROLET - MASTER DELUXE - SERIES AG - SIX: The Master Deluxe had body belt moldings and model identification plates at the rear of the hood sides. The standard upholstery and interior trimmings were plain. There were no arm rests on the front doors. CHEVROLET - SPECIAL DELUXE - SERIES AH - SIX: The Special Deluxe had the same new body and basic styling as the Master Deluxe. The series name appeared in chrome block letters on the rear sides of the hood. Additional standard equipment included a deluxe steering wheel with horn ring, stainless steel hood moldings. stainless steel window reveal moldings, a chrome plated license plate lamp and arm rests on the front doors. And richer upholstery material was used. In the Spring of that year the Fleetline sedan was introduced. It was a close-coupled 4-door model without window ventipanes. INNOVATIONS: Increased compression ratio. Flat top pistons. Smaller combustion chamber. New 10 mm. spark plugs. New design rocker arms. Redesigned water pump. Improved ignition points. Knee-Action front coil spring suspension standard on all Chevrolets. MODEL/ENGINE I.D. DATA:   Series AG - Serial numbers were on a plate on right side of floor pan in front of front seat. Starting: AG-1001. Ending: AG-62708. Engine numbers were on the right side of engine on milled pad on crankcase near rear of distributor. Starting: AA-1001. Ending: AA-1163729. Engines built in Tonawanda factory were numbered AC-1001 to AC-195459. Series AH - Serial numbers were in the same location as on Master Deluxe. Starting: AH-1001. Ending: AH-02375. Engine number were the same as Master Deluxe. Even so, 15,296 were sold. The Special DeLuxe Sport Sedan 4-door was very popular with 148,661 delivered. It was also available as a Master Deluxe. The Special DeLuxe Town Sedan was the most popular Chevrolet. 228,458 were built in 1941. It was also available as a Master Deluxe. CAR IMAGES Continued The 1941 Chevrolet Fleetline 4-door was an upscale Sport Sedan with a more formal roofline taken from the Cadillac 60 Special. Even with its January release, it managed to sell 34,162 units. The 1941 Special DeLuxe 5-passenger Coupe was very popular, selling 155,889 units. The Special DeLuxe Business Coupe was not as popular as its Master DeLuxe brother, with only 17,602 sold. The greater versatility of the 5-passenger model had finally won out. CAR IMAGES Continued The Master Deluxe 5 passenger Coupe sold only 1/2 of what its Special DeLuxe version did at 79,124. The 1941 Master DeLuxe Business Coupe was a salesman's dream and as such tripled the sales of the more expensive version with 48,763 sold.
