The installation time increases by approx. 0.25 hours for cars with SA 3CL (Welcome Light carpet). These times may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it. Important information These installation instructions are primarily designed for use within the BMW dealership organisation and by authorised BMW service companies. These installation instructions are intended for use by qualified specialist staff trained on BMW cars with the relevant expert knowledge. To avoid unnecessary extra work and/or costs, please send an inquiry to the technical parts support team. Quote the following information: – VIN, – retrofit kit part number, – a detailed description of the problem, – any work already carried out. Installation information Ensure that the cables and/or lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. Costs incurred by this will not be reimbursed by BMW AG. All illustrations show LHD (left-hand drive) cars; proceed similarly on RHD (right-hand drive) cars. © BMW AG, Munich 01 29 5 A07 0A4 08/2020 (Z/Z) 2.5 1/8 Ordering instructions The following components are not supplied in the retrofit kit and must be ordered separately for cars with SA 3CL (see EPC for part numbers and details): – Left light module holder I – Right light module holder J List of options SA 3CL Welcome Light Carpet Painting instructions Check that all the kit components fit accurately on the car before painting them. Primed kit components must be pre-treated accordingly before painting. These installation instructions must be given to the painter to ensure that the painting work is completed correctly. Follow the BMW painting instructions (see ISTA/AIR No. 99 00 ...). Preparatory work ISTA/AIR No. Disconnect all negative battery cables 61 20 900 Release and disconnect various plug connections 61 13 ... Instructions for handling wiring harnesses and cables 61 00 ... Instructions for handling the documents: Repair manual, technical data, tightening torques 00 11 ... The following components must be removed first of all Sill skirt, left and right (no longer required) 51 71 447 Sill support bracket, left and right (no longer required) 51 77 ... Installation The installation is shown only on the left hand side of the car, proceed similarly on the right hand side of the car. Cars with SA 3CL only Clean the bonding surface (1) with a suitable cleaning agent to ensure it is free from grease. Install the light module holder I in the sill skirt A and press it into position evenly over the entire bonding area. Install the light carpet light module (1) as described in ISTA/AIR repair instructions 63 14 .... All cars Place the sill insert for running board C and running board E in the sill skirt A. © BMW AG, Munich 01 29 5 A07 0A4 08/2020 (Z/Z) 2.5 6/8 3. Installation Secure the running board E with Torx screws O. Insert the clip L into the sill skirt A. For G05 cars only Replace the side wall holder (1) with side wall holder N. All cars Secure the running board support bracket G to the sill reinforcement using hexagon screws K. Install the running board as described in ISTA/AIR repair instructions 51 71 447. Concluding work This retrofit does not require programming/coding. – Connect the battery – If necessary, carry out a vehicle test using the ISTA system, and note, or work through, any errors that have been recorded – Re-assemble the car © BMW AG, Munich 01 29 5 A07 0A4 08/2020 (Z/Z) 2.5 8/8
