Important information on installing the CD changer in the E39/2 Only for use in the BMW dealer organisation. The CD changer may only be installed by a specialist workshop that has the required special tools and manuals (servicing, repair, diagnostics, etc.). All the work is shown for the left-hand side of the car and must be repeated on the righthand side. In cars with an on-board monitor radio the control cable is only installed in the boot.  In cars with a BMW Professional hi-fi system DSP amplifier only the coaxial cable for the Professional hi-fi system DSP amplifier/CD change must be installed in the boot.  Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. Additional cables/leads that you install must be secured with cable ties.If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used. When installing the power supply wiring harness A start with branches A1 and A2 . Lay the control cable B along the standard wiring harness near the sill (34) to the installation site of the CD changer (35) in the boot on the left. Secure the control cable B with cable ties. Remove the two covers (31) and set the adjustment mechanism (32) with a straight slot screwdriver to V (vertical installation) and then reaffix both covers (31). 1 31 31 32 F 39 1024 B 0 A4/X18180 30 31 A Connect branch A4, black 3-pin socket casing on the power supply cable A or the standard power supply plug X18180 to the plug casing on the power supply connector (30) on the CD changer (1). Secure the connection cable for the CD changer (1) with the holder (16) to the hole (31) from the inside. To install the CD changer (cars without an on-board monitor, without a DSP amplifier and with Professional radio SA663 after production date 03/01 only) 0 B1 B1 E2 E2 2 B1 E2 F 39 1019 B Push the shrink hose (2) over branch E2, silver 10-pin plug casing on adapter cable E, and connect branch B1, silver 10-pin socket casing on control cable B to it. As you connect B1 to E2 ensure that it is correctly positioned, see figure. All sharp metal and plastic detents are to be removed from plug connection B1 and E2 using an angle cutter. There must be no sharp edges or corners on plug connection B1 and E2. Push the shrink hose (2) over the plug connection B1 and E2 and shrink it using a hot air blower. There must be no sharp edges or corners on plug connection C1 and E2. Push the shrink hose (2) over the plug connection C1 and E2 and shrink it using a hot air blower. Disconnect the new generation radio connection plug (30) from the on-board monitor radio (31).
