Style: racing soul and Italian style
Every Abarth car reflects the brand’s direct link with the world of racing and competition,
both in the technical and design choices made and in the performance levels reached. In the 695
Tributo Ferrari, the car’s sporting performance is wonderfully balanced with the practical needs of
The Abarth 695 ‘Tributo Ferrari’ is the new incarnation of the Abarth 500, testifying to the bond
between Abarth and Maranello, the home of Ferrari, based on a series of shared values such as
passion for performance, a racing soul, attention to detail, and Italian style.
Abarth and Ferrari: two great names in Italian automotive history that with their passion and
dedication helped to create the reputation for sporting prowess enjoyed by Italian cars around the
world. Two legendary names, two men who followed very similar paths: starting out as drivers,
then working as preparers, and finally becoming the founders of two brands that to this day remain
among the elite of the automotive world. Extraordinary lives that crossed in the past and meet
again today in the impressive form of the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari.
The Abarth 695 ‘Tributo Ferrari’, an exclusive car that allows Abarth to extend its range and
enter the luxury sports car segment, while at the same time offering Ferrari customers a small,
nippy car ideal for day-to-day use in city traffic.
On the outside, the car’s eye-catching livery is clearly inspired by Ferrari’s racing models, with
carbon wing mirrors and Corsa Grey elements, such as the wheels and front air intakes.
The new Abarth mounts Xenon headlights for both the dipped and full-beam lights, ensuring a
better quality of light and excellent performance in all atmospheric conditions. Xenon bulbs are
actually three times brighter and last three times longer than traditional halogen bulbs.
The side of the car is embellished by the new logo, specially created to celebrate the cooperation between these two major brands.
The interior details are also highly customised and reflect the attention to detail and sportiness
common to the two brands, starting with the ‘Abarth Corsa by Sabelt’ seats in leather and
Alcantara, with carbon body and seat base. These seats combine the best characteristics of sports
seats, such as lightness (they are 10 kg lighter than standard seats) and the ability to provide
lateral and longitudinal support for the body, thanks to the containment elements with special
padding, with the ergonomics and comfort typical of seats for day-to-day use.
The three-spoke steering wheel, flattened at the bottom for greater comfort and easier adjustment,
features grips with coloured leather inserts matching the seats, and a tricolour insert at the top.
Mounted behind the steering wheel are the command levers for the electro-hydraulic ‘Abarth
Competizione’ gearbox, with two operating modes: MANUAL and AUTO. This 5-speed gearbox
consists of a traditional mechanical transmission to which has been added an electronically
controlled electro-hydraulic device that automatically controls the clutch and gearshifts. In MANUAL
mode, the driver is left to choose the most suitable gear based on the current driving conditions. In
AUTO mode, on the other hand, the system changes gear based on the car’s speed, the speed of
the engine and the force on the accelerator pedal. It also features the ‘Kick Down’ function: when
needed (e.g. when overtaking), with the accelerator pedal fully pressed, the system shifts down by
one or more gears (when the engine speed allows it) to provide the power and torque needed to
give the car the acceleration requested by the driver. The result is a sudden increase in engine
power and speed, which then automatically return to normal when the manoeuvre is completed.
The sporting performance and driving thrills are accentuated by pressing the SPORT button on the
dashboard, which activates specific settings for gearbox, the engine control unit and the steering,
for an even sportier drive.
Attention to details can also be seen in the pedals and in the driver and passenger footrests, in
aluminium with a distinctly sporty look, and customised with the Abarth scorpion symbol.
Lastly, the interior is embellished with a series of carbon and alutex features that give the car a
genuinely sporty look, such as the front dashboard panels, the gearbox surround, the structure of
the seats, the kickplates and the plaque with the car’s serial number.
On the inside, the ‘cockpit’ of the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari features instruments specially
designed by Jaeger. Inspired by Ferrari, the instrument panel is set on a white background with a
configurable multi-function display with a digital fuel level indicator and engine temperature
indicator, together with a separate, analogue turbo pressure gauge that indicates when SPORT
mode has been selected.

2. Engine: passion for performance
The new Abarth 695 ‘Tributo Ferrari’ is a small, nippy car, ideal for getting around, especially in
city traffic. With new aesthetic touches, several substantial changes have also been made
compared to the basic model, starting with the 1.4 Turbo T-Jet 16v engine – which can now deliver
over 180 bhp - paired with an MTA (Manual Transmission Automated) gearbox - the ‘Abarth
Competizione’ – an electro-hydraulic unit with steering wheel controls derived from the world of
competition, making the very best of the engine performance, with faster gearshifts.
For improved performance, particularly when accelerating, the car mounts high-performance
tyres on 17’’ alloy wheels with a specific design based on Ferrari rims.
The suspension and braking systems have also been overhauled and reinforced: modular disc
brakes (diameter 284 mm) with a fixed brake disc and four pistons, both produced by Brembo, and
specific shock absorbers ensuring high performance in total safety.
And of course, the car couldn’t be without the ‘Record Monza’ dual mode exhaust, with variable
back-pressure, capable of accentuating the car’s performance and the ‘sound’ of the engine above
3. Power in total safety
Designed to comply with the strictest International safety standards, for the technicians and
engineers behind the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari, safety was such a priority that they ended up
creating the safest car in the entire reference segment.
The stable and effective braking system, together with the outstanding pick-up provided by the
180 bhp engine, together with highly predictable handling, allow the new car to easily negotiate
The Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari comes with 5 airbags as standard (two front airbags, two
window-bags and a new driver’s kneebag): a record for this category. In addition, the new model
adopts a series of sophisticated technical solutions to ensure that the driver retains perfect control
of the car (active safety): in addition to the now classic ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake
Distribution), the sophisticated ESP (Electronic Stability Program) with ASR (Anti Slip Regulation),
HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assistance) and Hill Holder, to help with hill starts, the new Abarth 695
Tributo Ferrari also comes with several major new features:
TTC (Torque Transfer Control);
The TTC improves the transmission of engine torque to the wheels and guarantees excellent
vehicle behaviour on bends.
When taking bends without the TTC system, the inside wheel tends to slip more, and with an
ordinary differential, this leads to lower traction on the whole axle. At the same time, the effect of
traction generates a reduction in the lateral forces, leading to a widening of the car’s trajectory on
When the TTC system is activated, on the other hand, the ESP control unit brakes the inside
wheel, generating a load due to engine torque on the corresponding semi-axle, which allows a
similar torque to be transferred to the gripping outside wheel.
The result is that the car’s maintains the proper trajectory on bends, thus making it safer to drive
and much more fun.
The Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari features all those dynamic and comfort characteristics that
ensure that whoever drives it can easily and safely handle any type of route, credit for which goes
in large part to the suspension setup:
a specially calibrated McPherson type, independent wheel setup at the front;
an ‘interconnected wheel’ (semi-independent) setup at the rear, with a torsion beam and roll
Designed as part of a project by Magneti Marelli, the two setups chosen have been specifically
tuned and developed for use on the new car, to ensure outstanding handling and driving comfort.
